New Bike

Finally had to break down and buy a new bike this weekend, but my timing was perfect! I was riding a Specialized Tri-cross Double for the past 6 year with almost 20k on it. It was starting to make funny noises that my LBS couldn't fix (It was just getting old and tried).

I stopped by the Cannondale Bike Shop and there it was, a Caad 10, it was beautiful! The guy told me it was a new demo and that I should take it home to try it out. First mile out I was sold. Light (just over 17 lbs) very fast and comfortable. I put 80 miles on it over 3 days and when back to the bike shop without bring it back. They run around $1800.00, but they sold me this demo (I think it had 17 miles on it) for $1200.00. What a deal!

Went out this morning and did 33 miles running 20 -22 most of the way and I felt as good getting off it at the end of the ride as I did getting on it when we started. Looking to put some new wheels on it, maybe Mavic Ksyrium's. The LBS said they have no weight limits and they are fast and light.

Cool. Which CAAD10 is it? I'm assuming from your price description it's the one with the SRAM Rival group?

Yes, it came with the SRAM Rival group, but a SRAM Force crank. It is the white one.

Today's ride, short, strong wind off the ocean and heavy rains coming in.

Do you have a picture?

What are you doing with the old bike?

Most importantly, while your speed is awesome, keep in mind that new bikes come with magic that wears off after a while. You're going fast partly because you have a great new ride with a fantastic frame, but also because, well, because you have a great new bike, and you're impressed and inspired to work harder. The only way you can keep this going, to keep the magic from wearing off, is to keep riding your old bike. The new one will feel great by comparison every time you get on it, instead of starting to feel normal, because it's your bike.

Congratulations on the new ride. Looks like a really nice one, and "I'll testify" about Rival. Great stuff!

Yup, my wife has Rival and I'm jealous. I have ultegra and covet her group.

Good points Seattle, I still have it and will continue to ride it once in a while, but I'm not going to lie, it's hard not to ride the Caad 10.
