An unexpected N+1
Last weekend while looking at the local CraigsList postings, one really jumped out at me. It was a bike that belonged to a club member that I haven't seen in a while, and had a number of medical problems surface after a sudden and disastrous fork failure at 10mph on a multi use trail a while back.
His injuries seemed to have triggered seizures which he is currently on medication for, but unfortunately one of the side effects of his medication is a loss of balance, and is currently selling off his bikes.
Anyway, when I saw one of his up on CL I immediately contacted him and offered to buy it under one condition... that if he ever wanted it back to let me know. I doubt if anyone else made such an offer. Long story short, I have a new ride in the stable.
LOOK 241-kg, carbon frame (my first), broke out the Look pedals I've had forever (seemed fitting to put them on the bike), did some maintenance (glad I stockpiled a few chains when I spotted them on sale), and if I do say so myself, a very comfortable, fast, and light ride.
Now if I can only find a way to make a living riding bikes without racing....
