I can't control my Trek Madone
My new bike has a serious problem. Everytime I go out on it I tell myself "This is a recovery ride. Take it easy today." After a ever shortening warmup it takes control. It's pushing me to spin 100 rpm. It forces me down in the drops. It's constantly nagging me to go faster. Is there an obediance school for wayward bikes?

Nope, the best thing to do is just cave to its demands. Remember, resistance is futile. ;)

No obedience school for that steed, my friend.
The beatings will continue until morale improves. |
Sounds like a great bike!

I've got an easy solution, send it to me :-D

Same problem with my new Cannondale Synapse Carb 3.

Yeah, you are not going to be able to ride that beast slow. It looks fast just sitting there.
As everyone else has said, just give in to its desires and then everyone will be much happier. |
No taming a Madone. Just hang on for dear life and go along for the ride.
|
Sure there is, just buy another bike, one that weighs a LOT more, and take that on the recovery rides.
BTW; Just because you spin at 100 doesn't have to mean you are going hard! |
It's like my Allez. It's a spirited race steed.

@ Jethro - you don't actually lock that sexy beast up, do you? |

Ride it as hard as you can, as ofter as you can, teach that puppy a lesson!
|
I think something is up with my new bike also, it keeps wanting to go farther from home.
|
Somehow I just knew that this would be the nature of the "problem" before I even opened the thread.
:D |

Yup, it's called "The School of Big Long Climbs". You won't be in the drops very long and your bike won't nag you to go faster..:D
THEN I WANT 2! |
Same problem with the 5200 I ride. Huge difference between it and the old Schwinn Circuit I used to ride. The 5200 just wants to go and go and go..........

If you think your Madone is bad, just be grateful that you don't own a touring bike. |
