Well... Dang.

I haven't been able to ride very much at all over this past week just due to work and life getting in the way. My bike was due for it's 30 Day Tune-up and I was finally able to get on the road early this morning to sneak a ride in. About 12 miles in, I felt a "POP" and a shimmer from the rear wheel. I knew immediately what it was but, to be sure, I pulled over and gave her a li'l look see. Sure enough, the old Broken Spoke Syndrome. Limped it back the three miles to the car, got it home, showered, and headed to the LBS. It'll be fixed at no charge but they think they're going to have to order the Bladed Spoke (it's for a Trek Madone 5.2 and they weren't sure they had the Spoke in the store) and, though the bike will be ready by Monday or Tuesday, it'll probably be Thursday or Friday before I can get back to pick it up.

On the upside, temps here are supposed to be 100+ again all next week so it might be a good time to be sidelined. lol

I have already learned that I hate it when my bike's in the shop, and I haven't even had to leave it overnight yet. When I can't ride, I hang around here and read about riding.

Nutmeg, I do the same thing. It's kind of like riding by Proxy. lol

Bullet, you're right. That would sure make things easier. Unfortunately, I'm one of those "never think about it until it's too late" kinda guys. lol

Think about your poor bike. Wounded, abandoned, surounded by strangers, being poked and prodded by profiteers. The horror.

n +1 is the preferred solution, with 'n' being the number of bikes currently owned.
