Anyone here riding a Trek Madone 3.1?

I want to move up from my 1.5 that has served me well. I am looking at getting a 2012 model Madone 3.1, that can be ordered with either the SRAM Apex with Double Tap shifters ($50 More), or the standard setup as the 2011 has.

Can anyone comment on the shifters? I think I like the setup like my 1.5 with the two lever shifting.

I can still get the 2011 3.1, but like the upgraded frame and color of the 2012.

I don't ride that bike but I can offer some input on your shifter question as my buddy has a Trek XO with Apex sitting in my basement. I have no idea how those extra miles got on the odometer :innocent:

Anyways...try another bike with Double Tap and see if you like it. It took me awhile to get used to it, honestly, I like Shimano's shift levers better. I don't think you would be disappointed either way, just try it out before you make up your mind.

Thanks. I think for the $50 difference, I might stick with the Shimano, and the dual levers, as I am just used to that type. Hope to order it and have it in a week or so. I love the 2012 color, but I'm sure the white bar wrap will not last long :-)

I had a bike-fit last week. Told me I need 44" bars, and this has 42. I'll probably wait until I need to wrap the bars, then switch to 44".

BTW, I spent $190 last week for the Fit and adjustments to the 1.5 (which I can transfer to the 3.1). If any of you are having pain or numbness, I highly recommend this. Best money you will ever spend. While I was not too far off on my setup, I found out my left leg is slightly longer than the right. This had me reaching slightly and swinging my right leg out on the down-stroke. Adjusted my cleats and shimmed the right one. What a difference! I am also trying out an Adamo Century saddle due to numbness, and it's made quite a difference. Tail bone was a little sore after the first few rides, but no numbness and pain in the usual area, and the tail bone pain has subsided. This was almost a 3 hour process, and I am so glad I did it!

I got it done at http://www.sportfit-lab.com/ (There Doug, a shameless plug for you!
