switching to a road bike... Felt Z5

well, today I believe I'm going to make the change to a carbon road bike :thumb:

I put about 1,110 miles on my Giant Escape 2 Hybrid in the past 4 months and I am going to a Felt Z5 - took it for a spin yesterday and WOW, amazing experience to say the least!

my Hybrid will now be my wife's new bike as she's excited to start cycling with me! DOUBLE WIN! :D
I honestly haven't been monitoring my diet in the past 2 months - but have maintained my clydesdale status...

it's time to dial in the diet again, and take the next plunge!

has anyone else recently made the switch? what pros/cons do you have?

The Z5 is a nice, nice bike. Congrats.

I assume you and your wife are similar height?

yep, she's 1" shorter than me - and they're going to do a basic fit for her as well when we swap out :)

Hi, Toadster. I made the switch from Hybrid to Roadie a few months ago. I went form a trek 7300 to a Madone 5.2. The biggest hurdle I had was in just getting used to the new posture that the Roadie put me into and getting used to the way the new bike handled. Honestly, within about 4 or 5 rides, it felt really great with the exception of a few fit issues that had to be tweaked. I've never ridden a Felt but have friends who do and they love them. If I had advice to offer, it probably be just to ride it. Take your time getting to know it (it won't take long) and then just enjoy the hell out of it! Congrats!

Thanks! put a few miles on it tonight when it cooled down... I had a basic 4-pt fit at the LBS, but on Tuesday I have a pro-fit setup to cover all the bases... this thing really flies! :D

Yeah, it's a whole new world, huh? Awesome! :thumb:

Congrats! I've had my F75 sat in the garage ready to go for 3 days now and I STILL haven't got out on the thing for more than a few trips round the block.
If my body recovers from today's activity, I'll try and get out tomorrow evening.

Hmm....
Faster,
More comfortable (multiple hand positions),
Better looking.

Good move, you go enjoy that one!
