Two years ago today...
I walked to my LBS and rode a bike home.
Actually I rode past my home and went for a 6 mile ride. Parked the bike for a few hours and then went back out and rode 6 more. My goals where to Ride my age on my next birthday, (51, May 21st) Loose 100 pounds and ride a century.
I made the goal and rode 51 miles on my 51st birthday, This june I made the 100 pound weight loss and I my 53rd birthday I rode 106 miles. I also now have a collection of bicycles.

An inspirational story. Thanks for sharing.
I have just 2 bikes, but I'm thinking that my next bike will be a canoe.

Love this story so much! My Clyde husband is getting a bike on Wednesday, and I think it will be just what he needs to get him back in the exercise game. He just got himself a Giro helmet and a bike jersey, so hopefully in a few years, he will be like you....taking names and kicking ass.

zen: riding is only one part of the equation. Eating right, gym work, and weight lifting a little also play a key roll. Love riding but it is not a cure all solution. Eating right is key! Just my opinion.

Outstanding!! I just got back in the game of riding every week - atleast one mong ride on the weekends. Long for me right now is 30 miles. But I am back and the riding definitely helps with the weight and also being an active person. It changes you!! I am a woman who rides!
Way to go on your goals - and 100+ miles!

Ya know, it comes pretty dam close.
For the first 18 months I changed nothing about my eating habits and lifestyle. Lost 60 of the 100 pounds just riding and eating ice cream. Only the discovery of another medical issue (other than obesity) caused me to change my diet.
