Decide to throw in a little mountain bike today. One loop maybe two depending on the heat. first loop was clockwise and hot. Lots of friendly people on the trail today. Finished the first loop then turned around to do it counterclockwise. Near the top I ran into a couple of fellows I saw on the way down, Carlos and Rob. Rob is new to CHWP and doing pretty well figuring it's a tough climb. It was hot and the direct sunlight made it feel that much hotter. I was sweating like a dog on the steep sections.

When I saw them they were under the shade taking a break. Perfect opportunity for a break myself so I stopped to chat. I probably would have gotten to the top of the climb then turn back but since they were doing the entire loop, figured I'd ride with them for a little footage.

chatting in the shade I prepared to snap a pic of the two just when a couple of gals walked by. Had my recorder on but aimed up high. As I prepared to take a pic, I heard a commotion. Not sure exactly what happened but it sounded exciting. Maybe the gals posed by the guys for a split second but I missed it.

At the end of the loop, we did run into the gals in the parking lot. I asked them if they were wanted by the FBI so that I'd know not to pass on any pic posting but according to them, they are the FBI ha ha!

You do a great job with the vids. You have a knack for interviewing. Helps that you have human subjects. I ride alone and no one wants to hear a fat dude wheezing. I also marvel at the width of all the trails you folks ride in CA. Always looks like an Expressway. I am used to worrying about hitting elbows on trees around here.

.... We do have some single track stuff around but I really don't know where they are. Maybe an hour from where we live in Orange County. There may be some closer but I believe it's short sections. I did a ride at Chino Hills with some forum members years back. We did single track but seemed like it was a mile at the most. Plus, the fact that I am not a technical MTB'er means I don't miss the ST.

It is an expressway now, too many people but that is part of the reason I like the trail.

Looks like a fun ride. I rarely see that many people on my favourite trail here in the middle of the week. On Saturday or Sunday, maybe. The terrain is so different from here in the Great Lakes region! I love the wide paths and the blue skies. Thanks for sharing the vid! The Cars song is a toe tapper.

How did you have your camera mounted on your helmet at 7:30?

a littel camera mount. An alum plate type fixture with legs that swing out with rubber ends. Mounts on the helmet (velcro straps thru the vents) or on the hb's with velcro straps. At 5:58 I did remove the recorder from the mount or I wouldn't have gotten panning the shots of the two guys I was riding with.

I paid about $10 from some site in China a couple years back.

Oh, ok. I remember that mount on the handlebars from a while back. Didn't know it could be mounted on the helmet too.

I'm sure I'm in the minority around here (as usual), but I find it inspiring when someone posts video of themselves climbing a hill without covering up their effort with music. Especially if it's a Clyde or Athena. It takes courage to not give a damn what people think and just go for it.

I used to feel the same way and would never post a video of myself climbing a hill at all. I have to thank Mr. Beanz and iforgotmename for inspiring me to start making the sufferfest videos back in February when I started this thread in the General Cycling Discussion section. At the time I didn't have any climbing videos uploaded. It was hinted that I should "put up or shut up", so I did!

Of course, now I have the feeling people in here are sick and tired of my road climbs, so I'll try to do a little mtb this weekend. I have a rigid Rockhopper with Specialized Hemispheres, so to cut down on the chances of crashing I'll ride on a trail similar to the one Mr. Beanz did in his video . That is, if it's still open to bikes. The last time I rode there was in 1992 or 1993.
