Do Cold Drinks Alter Digestion?

One of the things I try to do when losing weight and improving my fitness is cut through the b.s. Here's an example of some of the b.s. on the internet, and how to cut through it:

https://theness.com/neurologicablog/i...ter-digestion/

Here is just the latest example – I was recently sent a link to this article on Discover Fit & Health – Stop Drinking Water With Meals–Seriously. The articles carries the “Discover” brand, and many readers might confuse this for an indicator of reliability.
In this case the “alternative” approach to information led to specific recommendations (avoid water, especially cold water, during meals) that is the opposite of what scientific information tells us – that drinking water of any comfortable temperature during meals is good for digestion, and certainly is not a problem.

We also learn from this episode to be skeptical not only of information we read on the internet (yes, including this blog – don’t just believe anything I write, check out the references if you are interested), but also of sources that appear trustworthy. Just because a big media company (in this case Discover) is behind an article or an online magazine does not mean that the information or the author has been vetted and is reliable.
Hope you enjoy!

I remember when I was 6-7 going to dinner with another family and the other boy asked "When do you drink?" I said what do you mean.. He said you do drink before or after the meal. Their family had a policy of not letting him drink during the meals.

I think drinking water is fine. But most ppl don't drink water they drink soda, milk shakes, alcohol, Frappuccinos, etc. If you are are having digestion problems it is not from the water, it is from the food or drinks.

Another problem with todays foods is that they are so processed so all of the water is removed, so by not drinking water the food is actually harder to digest

This bit of false info can do real harm if carried to far.

The only people that should not drink with their meals are folks that have undergone gastric bypass like myself (because it washes food out of the new stomach and eases the full feeling causing you to think you are hungry more often).

For normal stomach people with a normal working pyloric valve (sphincter), drink away! Your stomach will release food as it needs to when it is digested
