This a repost because it was suggested I'd get more helpful responses here.
I'm tempted to get some DT Swiss wheels from neuvationcycling along with the PowerTap SL+ which is on sale. These would be wheels for training, doubt I'd race with them. I like the look of fewer spokes and deeper wheels. Could I get away with the DT Swiss 585 (30mm deep) with 24 Sapim CX Aero spokes?
I've read in a few places that the rim is really strong and therefore fewer spokes are required.
What say you?

I'm about 250 and ride a 24 front Mavic CXP30 and a rear 28 spoke. 30mm rims.
Has some to do with the builder as well. I tried these rims years ago but the LBS said I was too heavy at 220, they couldn't keep them true for more than a week..
I rebuilt them myself with new spokes years later, have 9000 miles on them no problem.
Moe thanlikely work with a good builder but IMO, I have 24, 28 and 32 and feel no difference in performance.
The dude who builds them has something to do with durability.

Sure, no problem - it was buried over in the forum somewhere - I found it yesterday - Mavic and Chris King guys seem to be on the right page and the pricing is right on the Mavic rims

The Dt swiss rim you are referring too is super strong, similar specs to the Deep V.. I ride the previous version which was called the RR 1.2 and it has been a flawless wheel, I have mine built up to 32 spokes and have 2 of them built up and they are solid wheels. At 24 spokes I would be more comfortable if you used a beefier spoke than the sapim spokes but 24 spokes is just fine, as long as the builder takes care in building and knows that this for a heavier rider..

Rims make a huge difference!
I could twist a 32 spoke stans Olympic ZTR like a pretzel when I sprinted. I generally use
32 spokes because of my weight When I replaced the rim with a DT swiss I could twist the Stans rim inches out
of alignment with my hands. I ride on some 20/24 race x lites that are 10 times stiffer than the 32 spoke stans.
But then again (from another post), the owner of this bike is 392 down from 424 and says those wheels are doing fine!!!
I would be worried about these at 250!!
