Best Dec 1 ride to start with

I decided I have to get out there and ride! I have been reading this forum for a while and keep telling myself I'll start when the weather is better! And those days have came and went and I have still not got out there. So today I made it out, and here are a few pics to show you all I did get out!

This is a small state park with a trout fishing spring! I only made 5.5 miles today, but that is better than I thought! I started doing P90X again this week after 4 months off! I could hardly walk yesterday! A nice ride was just the active recovery I needed! Now I can get out of my chair without crying!
Anyway thanks for being my inspiration to get back in to the saddle!

What a pretty park!

Any trout? You need a rod-mount for a small two pc rod/reel combo!

BigdogEMT 12-01-11 08:23 PM

It wouldn't do me any good to have a rod! I one those people that can't catch my butt with both hands!! I couldn't catch a fish at a pet store!

big: lol. Love it.

Nice park! I bet it felt great to get out. p90x is tough. I like p90.

No worries! Catching your own butt is tough. Takes a second person to land that! LOL! Trout are much smaller and easier to get. In fact, I just started building a couple of pack rods - 5 pc fly rods in 8 ft, 5 wt just for fishing/cycling. Would love to have a creek like that close by with trout in it. Unfortunately, I'm in the state with the "Cadillac Dessert." And with our population, it's hard to find any body of water that hasn't been fished out. You have my envy!

This spring has it's own hatchery there in site. During the season they release thousands of trout, mostly rainbows but a few browns for good measure!
The season runs from March 1 to I think Oct31. So there was no one in the park but a few people walking!
I'm thinking about going back in the morning and taking my road bike.

Beautiful pictures!

If I may ask, how is the P90X? I've been pondering trying it out over winter, but I'm worried that I may still weigh too much to do it. They say you're supposed to be relatively fit to even start it in the first place...

BigdogEMT 12-01-11 10:04 PM

P90x is a great program! I started it last April and did the full program. I started at 380+ and got down to 329 at my lowest! Now I did take time off and slipped back up to around 350! Bad me!
As far as if you need to be super fit to do it that comes from people trying to put others down! I found this back when it came out, " you would never be able to do this! Only I could be good enough to do it!"
The whole program is tough and I still have trouble with parts! But As Tony Horton says during the whole thing "do your best and forget the rest" if you can't do 20 do 10 do 5 do what you can and maybe more next time!
I am a believer! My biggest problem is when restarting a program like this is I know I have done this before and start out way to fast and do to much! And I pay for it later! So if you decide to give it a try just take it slow and steady!

Looks like a great place to ride, thanks for the pics!

So I went back out today, and it was about 10 deg colder. I took both bikes but found that the road bike saddle was a bit too harsh! So rather than suffering I just jumped back on my diamondback and got a nice cool ride in!
Today being Friday I had to dodge the fishermen!

big: dont dodge the fisherman.... grab there fish and pedal hard and fast to get out of the way of the cast :)
