I lost 2.6 lbs this week and brings my total to 30.2 lbs. since mid April.

Great job Moose!

Thanks, I'm trying just like the rest of us are.

249 this morning. That's 2.8 lbs down since last week.

1loosemoose 06-22-14 06:35 AM

253 this morning and that's a big gain in weight. Went off the diet a few days and then had pizza last night after riding 50 miles at the TDC indy.
It's a temporary setback and I can live with that.

1loosemoose 07-11-14 05:41 PM

Well I'm bouncing between 247 and 250 because I've not been riding much and with out of state visitors( my son) I've been eating and drinking more on the weekends.
I'm bumping this just to let folks know I have stalled and am bouncing on 247 lbs like its a trampoline. This plan does work and I have not given up at all...... Life happens. I would bet that in a week or two I will crash thru the 247 lb barrier and continue to lose down towards my goal weight.

Keep on riding folks and fight the good fight against weight problems!

Just checking in after a few weeks away. Negative on the weight loss. I've gained about 2.5 pounds. I'm still riding though. I missed my June goal of 175 miles - but at least I did hit 150 which had been my monthly goal for a while. I did meet my goal of 15 rides.

For July, I'm doing the Map My Ride Le Tour Challenge - which basically is ride the days the tour rides for as long as you can go. Right now I'm around 4,800th place out of 48,000 riders. I've ridden 7 straight days for a total of 75 miles thus far. I just finished an 11.5 mile ride at an average speed of 15.1 mph - which is a personal best. Also did a personal best on one of the courses that I have set up on my ride - that would be a 0.7 mile course that I did in 2:09 or 18.75 mph.

I've got a big weekend coming up. I hope to do a couple of 14-15 mile rides - which is long for me. Then I get a rest day Monday.

I just wish I could lose a few pounds....

Keep on working. Sounds like you have the right attitude. The temporary setback is just that.

After getting down to 188 before last Christmas, I shot back up to 205 over the next 6 months, and am only slowly working my way back down (~201 right now).

1loosemoose 07-15-14 02:50 AM

Well my official weigh in day is Sunday but this morning I checked my weight and the scales said 245.0!!!!

I finally bounced my weigh thru the 247 lb trampoline. Hopefully I can continue in the right direction now.

dexter9326 07-19-14 01:16 PM

Congratulations and good luck with the weigh in

1loosemoose 07-20-14 08:42 AM

Thanks Dex

this morning I weighed in at 247.0

I'm thinking more discipline is being needed to get past this point. I did good all week but last night I took the mrs out for Chinese buffet. It was really good and I'm not too worried. It's not a race to lose this weight. The long haul is what matters.

Keep up the good work all!

Finished the Map My Ride Le Tour Challenge today. I rode every day the tour rode for the past three weeks for a total of 215 miles over 21 days. For many on this board, I realize that is not much, perhaps even pathetic - but for me - it was monumental. You don't know how many days I did not want to ride but dragged myself out. Midway through my "tour" our area was enveloped by a polar vortex that brought with it temperatures in the high 60s/low 70's and days on end of rain. I rode those days too - albeit on a shortened route.

Along the way, I set several personal bests for average speed - culminating with a 13 mile ride at 15.6 mph yesterday on my penultimate "stage". Even today - with hardly any legs left I did 11 miles at 15.4 mph.

It's weird - and even though I realize this accomplishment is not all that significant in the grand scheme of things, for me it is probably the most significant thing I've done health-wise in the past 5 years.

Lost a pound as well. Down to 262.4

1loosemoose 07-29-14 11:05 AM

Congrats on both the riding and the weight loss Dex.

I was on vacation last week and spent a couple days at the track in Indy. I weighed in at 246 this morning so the setback was minimal. At least I didn't bounce back above 247!

dexter9326 07-31-14 07:01 PM

Thanks - and congrats on the success during your vacation.

I did an 11 mile ride today to finish off July with 226 miles. That's around 70 miles better than my previous monthly high.

The riding has been great, but the weight loss not so much. Still struggling. I have to say that I work my ass off during my rides. I'm doing around 15 mph for 10+ miles which for me is huge.

August will be a tough month. I'd like to get 150 miles in, but I'm on vacation from the 7th through the 18th - which is a huge chunk of the month. I'm starting tomorrow 8/1 and hope to ride at least 5 times before my trip. I'd like to finish the riding season here with 1,000 miles and no month below 150 through September. I've done 150 in April May and June plus 225 in July for a total of 675. August and September at 150 each gives me 975. October is really dicey around here but I should be able to get my 1000 miles. Hoping to get into the 250s weight at some point too.

244 this morning.

My wife purchased a fitbit for me and I can track my weight and calories daily on it for free. I am thinking about dropping the weight watchers and save $20 a month.

I like my FitBit. Actually I loved it until I was walking so much I developed plantar fasciitis. That got my back on my bike after 18 years. I lowered my step goal and add my rides to activities. I don't use it to track food and calories because I used LoseIt before I got the FitBit. I switched to MyFitnessPal and it will sync with FitBit app.

I have now switched to my fitness pal as well and love how it works with the fitbit. This takes all the guess work out of weight loss in my opinion.
I am making real progress again. 239.6 this morning. Down from 282 in April.

Wow. That is a lot of weight loss. Go you!

Thanks!
I had plantar faciatis (sp?) years ago and went to a foot dr and they made me custom orthotics that I wear daily. It took about 6 months to go away but I can honestly say my feet are the one part of my body that doesn't hurt. I am truly thankful for that!

Great job! I am at 223 last weigh in and working on it. Hit the road for 20 miles this morning and just got back from kayaking for an hour. It is amazing that despite the weight, once the decision to get active is made it seems to work miracles. Congrats again!

1loosemoose 08-20-14 04:16 AM

238 this morning and feeling good.

Picked up a 2015 Trek Domane 4.5 last night as a reward for working hard and riding as
much as I have since April. Can't wait until this weekend is over (daughter getting married and taking the youngest back to college) so I can hit the road!

1loosemoose 09-02-14 03:04 PM

236.4 today. Still headed in the right direction but not very fast. I do great all week and not so great on the weekend.

I hear ya. It's the free time to snack that does me in. If I'm busy, I don't even miss it, but give me free time, and I'll invariably find a snack to absentmindedly put into my face.

chefisaac 09-15-14 03:55 AM

Started at 380 and now 237.2.

Took me forever to get out of the 250's and 240's
