I have used the Nimbus tire for years on my "hybrid" GT MTB and really like the ride and feel of them, as well as the long life of them. I noted that they offer a 700 x 28 in that tire and am considering putting a set on my Felt to replace a well worn set of Bontrager hardcase 28's I have been using. The racelites have just enough room to clear front and back. Just looking at the Nimbus, and in spite of the sizing being the same, it just looks like a wider tire.

I was wondering if any of you have used this tire and could speak to the sizing of the tire as related to others of the same size. I don't want to go through the hassle of ordering them and finding out they don't fit.

Additionally, I would like to know if they handle well considering the size? I was always fond of the ride on my MTB, but obviously it handled like a truck on the road anyway. The current tires don't handle well at all so it isn't going to take much to improve on it. Where I understand part of it is caused simply by the width, these particular tires are not very confidence inspiring in corners. The whole point of them was to avoid pinch and puncture flats, which they performed flawlessly. I am willing to give a little on the bulletproof aspect to gain some handling back.

I would consider GP's or gators if price was not a concern.

Tire sizes aren't quite a joke, but they're close to it. A lot of tires are narrower than they claim to be, because narrower tires use less rubber, and weigh less as a result, so companies can say "Our 23s are lighter than other 23s [because they're really 21s]." Of course, two can play that game, and it got kind of rampant.

Specialized makes decent tires and I have never been dissapointed with any of the sets I've ever owned but their road tires do run small. For example, the set of Specialized All Condition 28mm tires that I have mounted on Neuvation wheels only measure 26mm.
