Weekly Inspiration Network: WIN #5, Feb 6 - Feb 12

Welcome to the Weekly Inspiration Network!

Since many of us do a better job of sticking to our goals if we have a little public accountability, here's a way to get some support for your efforts towards a healthier you.

If this is your first time posting, let us know what is is you're trying to do, where you are now, and what your goal is. You might be trying to lose weight, or exercise more regularly, or home-cook more meals, or even spend more quality time with your family.

Then every week, let us know how you did the week before.

We'll read each others posts & cheer each other on.

Oh, and if Monday comes around and no one has started the new thread for the week yet -- feel free to copy this post, change the numbers and dates in the title, and get things started. Thanks!

So I've been trying to do something every day, alternating cardio days (mostly a couch-to-5k program) with resistance training. How that will stack up this coming week and into the next, when I'll be out of town, I don't know. (Oh, so next Monday, I probably won't be the first WINner to log in on Monday morning -- feel free to get the thread started for the week without me!)

Good morning Jen!

I am happy about last week. I didn't buy a pile of stuff, didn't want to, and seem to have broken out of the shopping spree thing I had going. My weight is maintained, coming in at 106 this morning. I biked less in the last few days due to bad weather, but I did work on weights. I did one fast, short ride but did not do any intervals due to weather. However, I ran twice, again in the one mile range. I hope to have that up to 2 miles by spring, roughly following couch to 5K.

Goals for the next week:

Maintain weight
bike with the guys for fun if not raining
do one set of intervals
try out the suggestion of another poster to do some slower cadence/harder pedaling work for strength
run twice during the week (probably on the rainy days as rain is forcast)
do two weight/resistance training sessions
stay within shopping budget

I'm down to 227lbs from 235 last week and 242 start of the year. Have done 150k since last week which is amazing here in Canada. We are having a crazy winter! Today was 7c, did interval training, my legs are twitching but my recovery drink was great!!!mmmmm beer.

-1.5 lbs last week. Still on target. I look at this as a minor triumph because I had to do a bunch of traveling for work in the last two weeks, and managed to keep losing despite it.

Hey, Stoutie, did I see you slide past a major milestone there?
And have you picked out a new handle for when "stout" just doesn't work anymore?

Weighed in at a new low of 225, down from 286 about a year ago. 60 (or thereabouts) more to go.

Even better, I went out for a 40 mile club ride Saturday and including my ride to the meetup location and back home, I did 60 miles. I haven't done that sort of distance since I was in my 20's! Hills are also getting noticeably easier of late.

Do more jogging. ~ (want about 4-5 times a week, up to 2 now)
Get faster when running/jogging. ~ Was at 22 minutes for 2 miles. Just did 2 miles in under 17 minutes tonight. (STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH)
Lose a couple of pounds. ~ Weigh in at 228 pounds
Get a few MORE hours on the trainer. ~ Right now only doing a couple of hours a week.

Not Happy, was down to 184 last week, weighed in at 186 this week. I just plain did to much binge eating during the weekend. The only high point is that my all out running mile was the best is has been in a while.
