What did I do today (or this weekend)
I always liked these type of threads as they get me thinkinh and motivated. So lets hear it. What did you do this weekend (or today)?
I was mostly a bum (It happens) Worked Saturday and took care of the sick wife. Sunday Went for a short drive in the hills with the wife, she is getting better slowly. |
fixed fences on Saturday, short ride on Sunday
|
Nice hilly 22 miler on Saturday, spent all day in front of my computer doing automation (conveyor) testing Sunday. :|
|
Saturday I rode 25 miles and felt like I rode 50. Rain came back and I took Sunday off. I made four necklaces, drank wine and caught up on my favorite podcasts.
|
Did my longest ride ever Saturday of 26 miles. Took Sunday off.
|
Probably the first weekend in years I didn't ride so I am no good as far as motivation goes. I was actually busy and with the rain, no riding, bummer!
Our family is very active in raising money for cancer. 2 years ago year my oldest cousin battled cancer. Our family did cancer relay for life fund raisers. But also raised money to pay for her treatments. This year, my second oldest cousin Christie was diagnosed. So the family continues to be active in the battle. A breakfast was held this weekend raising another $800+ for the cancer society. In a couple week, my other cousins heavy metal band will rais another $1500. Both cousins are cancer free as of right now but Christie will begin prevetnitive chemo real soon just to be sure. Christie and her son Brandon. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...o/christie.jpg Other cousins posing (runs in the family ha ha) http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...rtwo/3gals.jpg Cousin Regina hard at work serving menudo. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ertwo/gina.jpg So that was one day, the other day rained so no riding. But later in th evening, Gina slipped into a black dress, nylons and high heels. Hopped into her new car and took me to a valentine dinner. Can't see the heels.;-( http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...umbertwo/4.jpg Always a good time and in a good mood...what a wife! http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...umbertwo/1.jpg Some kind of cod dinner. I had bacon wrapped filet mignon, YUM! http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...umbertwo/3.jpg Hey, why is that guy staring at my potatoes? http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...umbertwo/2.jpg Sorry guys, no riding, just parties and eating. I am absolutely no motivation at all. Sorry Man! |
I know it is not cycling, but I ran 11 miles on Sunday.

Drove 90 miles to Stroudsburg, PA for a wedding. Went on a walking tour of the town. Visited the overlooks of the Delaware Water Gap. Crossed the pedestrian bridge over the Delaware River from Portland, PA to Columbia, NJ - twice. Hiked a little bit on the Appalachian Trail. Hiked a two mile trail with a friend I've not seen in a decade. Played my first game of chess against a rated opponent since 2004 - I had Black, blundered in a gambit line of the French Defense, and went down in flames. Attended the wedding - the ketubah signing was inside, the ceremony was a short hike outside, up a hill, and I had to stand for 20 minutes before the groom broke the glass. Limped to the reception, where I stunned everyone who knew me by dancing. (Comments ranged from "Wow, Neil has moves" to "You looked like a walrus trying to climb a tree.") Drove home and was so exhausted I sat on the sofa and proceeded to fall asleep still dressed from the wedding....
Sorry for the cell phone picture, but it's the best I have now.... suit and tie are dark blue, and I looked like 1% of the 1%. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7271639&type=1https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...60815275_n.jpg |

Mirrors my experience with Dragon. |
I rode 52 miles to Cleveland and back yesterday, where I participated in a small rally.
|
Yep went on my first florida ride. I was up for 36 hours straight its amazing how much further I can drive now I'm got a little bit fitness.
|
On Saturday I walked a couple of miles to the gym and worked out on the eliptical for slightly over an hour. That evening I went to a banquette and got pretty snockered. As a result, I skipped the gym Sunday. Did get in a few miles of walking on the way back from shopping. Made risotto with kale and roasted parsnips for dinner.

It would have been out of your way, but the drive down the river is really nice. Cross over into NJ at Belvidere and continue down the NJ side. I am still hoping to tour from NY through the Gap and down the river to Lambertville and then home Easter weekend. |

We were up there in October for the Black Bear Century out of Delaware Water Gap. Just missed seeing a bear. Stayed at the Best Western. Portland is a sad little town. Even the diner closed.

But it has one claim to fame: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...34847988_n.jpg |

My last rated chess game was 2004, and I was never more than 1682 USCF. My opponent had White, was in practice, and is rated about 1950. The result was as expected by everyone but me. A friend of mine who was a chessplayer for nearly 80 years - at age 92 he could still win three out of five against me in five minute games - told me when he sat down he never thought his opponent was the "better man." I've tried to apply that thinking to more than just chess games. It helps when I ride with someone as experienced as Homeyba, for instance - he may be faster, or fitter, but he's really no better than I am. Sorry for the digression. Anyway, chess is one thing I gave up for weight loss and cycling. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...97407491_n.jpg |
I got bits and pieces for 5 bicycle builds

I was sick this weekend. I researched snow shoe trips for next weekend, and trails for the spring and summer.
