Closing Out Febraury

As I look at my calendar where I track my miles, I am closing out this month with 418.25 miles. Commuted 15 of the 20 work days which is 75%. Commute round trip is 22 miles which is 330 miles this month so a rough savings of $181.50 by commuting.

Its nice to go out to the truck on a weekend where I need to drive and realize I do not remember when the last time was that I bought gas.

he he he he

Though I am very happy about my miles (Since Jan 1= 702.75) the TRUE test will be riding in the snow this time next year. I know it will be much harder and I am glad it has been a mild winter so I can get some experience under my belt.

Do you have more posts than miles?

Congratulations! That's a lot of mileage now matter how you slice it up.

It's the stops that were the most important part of the ride.

That's seriously impressive, Chef. Your first two months of this year put my whole of 2011 to shame. You'll better my total (about 1175) by the end of March.

Trojan: lol.

Neil: Yes, the stops were great. The scenery and companionship made it special. It was a tough day for me getting back into riding but well worth it.

You're mileage is quite impressive Chef, how long have you been riding?

I'm at 724 for the year with 31k in climbing...pretty much all on my single speed. 404 in Jan and 320 in Feb, took a week off in Feb due to being sick. I am going to start commuting again tomorrow

For Feburary 242 actual road miles. 6 hours of spin class and 9 hours on the trainer. Got a Balaclava ,Motocross goggles, Leg warmers so the season is here. I tried a https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...0_10000_201165 in XL but it was too tight around my thighs. The exchange for an XXL not here yet. No more trainer and the spin classes will be a last ditch effort. They got rather strange and I can tell the flywheel effect messed up my pedaling form. Where I was smoothly spinning > 140 in class in the real world I'm back down to 85 ish.

I started riding in July 2011. Finished July with 1600 miles. I started commuting I think mid December. Now I commute a lot. I love it.

Before riding, I forgot how much I loved being out doors. I have been in the food business for around 15 or so years and, well, you stay inside a lot to work. When I was in Seattle, on top of being a Chef, I owned a business had employed about 20 people. I worked one job and went to another. I was basically killing myself with no exercise, high stress, neglecting my wife, family and friends, and eating like crap.

Now I love on the east coast, have great friends and ride tons. Riding has enriched my life in so many ways.
