Fell in my freaking kitchen today and broke my leg. G**d***!!
I am so pissed at myself. Just before the bike swap this weekend, I go and fall down in the kitchen and break my leg. I ended up almost taking my knee out but in a way the leg break absorbed the damage that would have killed my knee. My knee appears to be fine.
6 weeks of wearing a cast splint. At least they didn't put me in a full leg cast. They were going to at first.

Yes this sucks big time. I slipped on the ice six months into "the journey" and sprained my right knee really bad. At first I thought "Oh No. All that work down the drain." Something snapped deep down inside me and I told myself I wasn't going to let this beat me. This was the time for serious re-dedication to task at hand. While recovering I took a hard look at my eating habits and switched to an 1800 calorie diet that I stuck with until I'd lost half my body-weight. You've shown some good discipline so far. Went out and rode when others sat around and done nothing. Channel that toughness into controlling your eating.
One thing you may be able to do is to work on core strength. This will make riding much more comfortable once you can get back into the saddle. Whatever you do you want to be able to look back at this time and think."I didn't let this beat me. I'm not that person anymore."

You gonna eat that?
Ow that sucks. Get better quick.
My wife did a slip & fall in the kitchen a month ago. Nothing broken, but bruised her hip pretty bad. It took so long to get better that she went to the doc and got an MRI to make sure there wasn't something else going on. They just found severe bruising and a little arthritis.

I went to a roller skating party for my grand daughter...and I haven't been on skates in 30 years...needless to say, I fell a couple of times and almost busted my hip. Dumb dumb dumb...but the kids were really impressed. :-) I healed up in about 4 weeks and thankful it wasn't worse than it was. No more skating for me. Please get well soon, and I hope your recovery is speedier than planned.

Yeah crutches! I assume you're on crutches. I also assume you have the same ***ty chafing machines we all get, why on earth can't we get those cool looking crutches the NFL gets? It's just bent metal right?
Anyway, best of luck with your recovery. Some genius put glazed tiles in my kitchen - it's an ice rink when it gets wet and i've gone down plenty of times with a broken leg scenario flashing in my head.

Hope you mend quickly!
Home is where most accidents happen, and in my case it was my wrist a couple of years back. Slipped on the corner of the carpet and managed to put my hand behind my head to protect it from hitting an armored door, having the wrist absorb all my weight and momentum and cracking a small bone in half.

I broke my leg a couple of years back...I slipped in the mud and the rest of me went down the hill while my foot stayed stuck in the mud. Then I tried to walk on it because I needed to get back to the house, and I tore out all the tendons. By the time I crawled back to the house, my foot was facing the wrong way. I had surgery and spent several months in a wheelchair, because I kept falling with crutches and it was nearly impossible to pick myself up when I did fall. I have a plate and 9 screws in my leg now. If I ever do it again, I'll get a knee walker instead of the wheelchair, because it was really hard getting out of that thing when it was time.
I wouldn't try a sudden, strict diet while healing a broken bone, but if you're on pain meds, do try to keep a log of what you eat so you don't eat more than you realize. Don't be surprised if you get cold more than usual, and need more sleep. I've broken a few other bones and never had those issues, but the leg was totally different.
Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks everyone. I just hate that this had to happen to me. I currently have a temp job so I'm not getting paid while I'm not at work and I have no insurance.
But life will go on.
