32,500 people there (lots in costume - quite an event)! Girlfriend and I did the 8k. I'm no runner, but did a decent time for me at 39:27 (250ish). Looked like there was a handful of Clydes/Athenas running.

Not exactly sure of the miles to km conversion but if I did my math correctly that's still an 8 min pace.
That's Far from just decent

A friend non-Athena of mine did the the 5K with the 12,000 runners and complained that she got bottled up, but had a fun time anyway. Maidenfan, I have to say that is an impressive pace. I did an all out training 5K today and was only a little faster then you for the shorter distance. Granted, I have been torching my legs this weeks, but that takes nothing away from your great effort. Great job!!

Thanks for the kudos. When I was in the Marine Corp about 22 years ago I ran my best 3 mile physical fitness test run at 18:50, but I was about 200lbs. I quit running for 15+ years as it broke me down. I started up again a few years ago when the barefoot/natura/chi running thing started and am able to run again w/o pain once or twice a week now. I'm pretty fit now, but still 245-250lbs, and trying to get that down simply for a quality of life issue when I get into my 50's and 60's (42 now).
Just checked and the official times are up now. I was runner #1953 w/a time of 39:26 for a 7:56 pace (thanks to runner girlfriend who paced us during the race). Came in 50th out of 339 in my age group. It would have been cool if they did weight classes too as I doubt many of them were my weight - 200+ really isnt a Clyde in my opinion.
The winner of the 8k did it in 24 mins.
