About a month ago, before Daylight Savings Time change, I was heading home in the dark with brilliant LEDs ablaze. I rounded a corner and was heading down an inside residential street when a sliver modern VW beetle threw its driver door right out full open. My handlebar had just passed her door, and the edge brushed my elbow and bounced off my thigh and hip. I scooted an inch from the impact, but being a clyde with much mass and with a single-speed, there was no derailleur to catch and hook the car door so it bounced back on the lady opening up the door.
She freaked out thinking she had just hit and possibly killed a cyclist. I said the F-bomb so loudly, I think I made neighbours all peer out their windows. But I didn't fall, and continued on. About 5 seconds down the road, I calmed down, and yelled back, "Thank you!!!" for no reason and rode on. I still remember the seemingly slow-motion image of her expression that seemed so apologetic for actually hitting a cyclist and getting cussed out. But knock-on-wood; no harm done. Not even a bruise on the hip. Being a Clyde sometimes has advantages from true mass. She didn't mean to hit anyone. She and I were just at the wrong place and just a bit too close to each other. I am glad I tend to hold at least 4 feet distance between myself and parked vehicles on the left. But even then, that might still be too close.

I don't see the point in screaming at people that way.

I suppose you're right but we need to remember than there isn't one of us here who hasn't been the guy in the truck either and pulled in front of someone at some point in our lives. It's kind of a glass house thing...
