Good News!

I am sure some of you have read my posts about the problems I have been having with my 7.2FX--they have been resolved through Trek and my LBS. I was given a brand new rear wheel, and I had my front wheel re-trued; free of charge. Despite the fact that it was fixed, I decided to put it up on Craigslist to see if I could swap it for a road bike. After a few days of low-ball offers I finally received an e-mail that was worth taking in to consideration. I was offered $475 cash, which I declined when he mentioned his 2010 Trek 1.2 that he wanted to swap. It's in perfect condition, it fits, and he included his cats eye computer, two carbon water bottle cages and Bontrager seat bag for free. He is stopping by later today to do the trade.

I've also posted about my unsuccessful attempts at finding a job. Well, a week ago I decided to send in my resume to a couple of my local bike shops just for the hell of it. After not receiving a response for over three weeks, I figured they weren't hiring or they had no interest in hiring me. I was wrong! Earlier today I received an e-mail from one of them asking to interview me. It just so happens they listed job offerings because of the huge increase in store growth and popularity. Needless to say I was the first one they replied to because I sent in my resume three weeks prior to the listing.

I have little to no mechanical skills involving bicycles, but fortunately, all positions in the store are open. I talked to one of them and they said I would be able to work my way up and learn different things in the process so I can switch from retail to a bicycle mechanic. This job pays around $9.50 an hour, but you receive benefits that, at this point, I am unsure of, except the employee discount. That means shiny new toys for my new road bike at a discount!
