First 20+ mile ride in the morning.

Well my brother and I are going on what will be my first road ride in the morning. He is an avid rider that i out weigh by 76lbs and he came to visit. Hopefully i will be able to reply tomorrow about my experience. I have mainly rode the neighbor hood which is 10.4 miles and about 1/2 up the main road to the FIU campus and rode the MUP which gives me about 15-20 miles depending on how much of the neighbor hood I ride as it gets boring with all the dead ends. I am probably going at least 40-50 miles tomorrow.

Take breaks when needed and you will be fine. Also, if he is much faster don't kill yourself keeping up.

we rode the other day doing what he called training and averaged 17mph for about an 1hr 15 min but I've rode the same route 5+ times now so it wasn't that big of a deal. I am athletic and have worked out for 3 months doing 45-60 minutes of cardio 4 days a week so I probably won't be as bad off as i think if the wind stays calm. forecast says 15mph winds but its normal for this area.

Good Luck, you should be fine.

My wife is in shape, but not an avid cyclist, did 17 miles with me.....no problem. She wasn't even sore the day after. I'm going to take her 20+ on her next ride.

Well I made it. It wasn't too bad except for riding up A1A and through downtown with the wind in our face.

He didn't try to leave me. I think he was disappointed when i said if we go this way we can get back to the house. He usually rides with a group on the myrtle beach area weekly and has been at it for a few years. I think I did good for this being the end of my second week with the road bike. Thanks for the replies and hopefully I can keep improving.

Sounds like a good aggressive weekend. You get em tiger, give us the ride report. Do you have a HR monitor. What will your max HR be, any predictions?
