I need to buy shoes soon, but where?

I posted in the intro thread about my situation.

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...9#post14053229

I'm a huge guy, partly as a result of a terrible accident that I'm only now lifting my head up from to get after it. The biggest problem I'm finding is shoes. I use SPD pedals, but I can't find shoes in my size any longer. My feet have gotten bigger, perhaps, but not by much. I always wore between a 14-15. It's just become really hard to find shoes in that size that aren't super narrow. I'd like to buy something soon with a level of certitude that they're going to be wide enough. I'm sure I'll have to buy over the Internet so any recommendations would be appreciated.

I bought Shimano M0-87's in size 48's I wear Mainly 14's but some 13's will fit. If you can find them in 49's they're worth a try. Fairly wide. Got them from Nashbar for $90

I bought a pair of these from my local bike shop:

https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-2012-S...4&sr=1-4-spell

I wear a 44 (roughly a 10 I think) but I have a plate in my foot and don't trust on line purchases for shoes anymore. My left foot is bulkier than my right, but I don't like buying wide shoes because then they don't fit in other ways. Anyway, the footbed of this shoe is pretty comfortable for my situation and I can only imagine that a wide shoe would be even bigger. Seems like a bunch of cycling shoes are for scrawny feet.

Amazon's return policy is pretty spectacular if it doesn't work for you.

Good luck with your quest and stick around the forum. You'll find plenty of people who have been in your situation and everybody is plenty supportive.

I should clarify. I already have Sidis that fit. So I'm looking more for a shoe I can walk around in.

I, too, have large feet - one is a 14.5 (or 49), the other is a 14 (or 48). I've simply learned to deal with the fact that I'll never find shoes that will fit me correctly. I purchased Exustar SM324 shoes a few months ago for about $50, and they've been great so far.

Are you looking for shoes with recessed cleats that are more comfortable for walking in?

I see you already have sidi.

I have them as well in a 50

I tried a few different ones in that size, couldn't find any I liked better.

Try the mtb shoes if you want to walk

Are you referring to Sidi mountain bike shoes? I'll take a look. Does anyone out and out make wide shoes? Either wide-sized by design or actually 4E, 2E, etc.?

I've got 51-52's - I have a couple of pairs of Northwave road shoes that have been really good. Their sizes are bigger than most. Got them off amazon in the UK. (I live in NZ)

Zinn also has a big shoe shop - selling big Lake shoes....

Good luck. I know it's always a mission to find big shoes.
