Wish my new steed some luck

After more than a decade of riding just steel bicycles I'm going to give aluminum a try again.

My last tin can bikes were Specialized M2 hard tails. I cracked 3 frames, one by the seat collar and two where the right chain stay meets the BB, followed by an early Santa Cruz Heckler which I just plain hated the handling.

I've been on un-suspended steel ever since. Mostly single speeds.

well I ain't getting any younger or skinnier so I though I'd take advantage of Specialized's life time guarantee on their frames and put some gears and suspension back into my life to do some longer, steeper rides in the Scruz mountains..

Thus, there is a spanking brand new , 23 inch Stumpjumper Evo 29r with 1 x 10 gearing sitting in my LR..

The tubing is now called "M5", so I have to wonder what advancements have been made to the metallurgy...

anyways, just thought I would share that...btw, 6 foot 6, 250 pounds here..

Your about an inch taller than myself. If you can be bothered to photograph it, I'd be interested in seeing your set up on the Stumpy 29'er.

Congratulations on the new bike. I hope you enjoy it and that it proves up to the task.

I was very surprised at how compliant (smooth) the rear end was on it's first ride.

the gears, and fork will take some time to get use to....
