Just added a new set of wheel to my stable, and it's a fixie! Yes, wheel.

Has anyone else here ever tried to learn to ride a unicycle? Or is there a separate forum for that? (I'll bet it's only half the forum this one is!)

I did a Critical Mass ride where a unicyclist joined the group once. You should have seen the guy's legs go descending 10 % and steeper hills!

I had a unicycle but never could ride it. I eventually sold it.

A guy I ride with goes "mountain unicycling" It's pretty cool. He also plays bike polo on his uni.

I haven't even really tried mountain biking! Mountain unicycling will have to wait until my next life.

I actually bought the uni for my son - he juggles, and wants to learn to juggle while riding it. I used to be able to do that a little thirty five years ago. I'll certainly give it a go again. After I buy us both wrist and elbow protection. Hmmm... I wonder if unicycleforums.net has a Advocacy and Safety subforum, and if they have an endless "elbow and knee pad" thread.

Never learned. A few years ago, however, I encountered a unicyclist riding coast-to-coast in England. The English coast-to-coast ride isn't quite like North America's, it's only 144 miles. Plenty of hills, though, and far enough for a unicyclist. He was as fast as me up some of the hills, but it was the downhills that impressed me. Quads of steel.

I see one or two around Irvine. They look like the off road type though, don't see them out much recently.
