Shed the first 10!
I'm still a newbie here, but I've been using LoseIt and cycling for the last 2 weeks, and I've already shed the first 10 pounds of my 50 pound goal and I feel great! I've put 18 miles on the bike so far, and I'm looking to put at least another 32 on before the end of the month (I figure 50mi is a good starting point; I'll shoot for 75 in May and at least 100+ in June and July).

Way to go! I'm in the same boat. I've been cycling regularly since late last summer, and just introduced Lose It and the calorie counting back in early February. I'm down 27lbs since starting Lose It, about 55lbs down since last spring, and about 17 away from my goal weight of 170lbs. Keep it up!

Nice going, keep it up. I've dropped 65 pounds in a little over a year, with about another 55 to go. Feels great, doesn't it?

Caution: Losing the first 10 pounds when you are overweight is relatively easier, especially if you alter your eating habits. That's not meant to diminish what you've done so far at all though. Congratulations! However, do not stop, quit, revert if you get stuck when you've lost 20 pounds... (just picking a random number). Just keep at your new good habits and you'll get there eventually, even if there are occasional plateaus.
Another handy tip is to target a certain number of rides per week and do them, even if they're just short little things. Gotta form good habits! Go for a walk on the days you don't ride.

Keep it up, increase your mileage gradually and keep doing what you're doing diet wise and you will be down to your target weight in no time.

Thanks all. And, yea, I know that I'm primarily blowing through glycogen reserves at this point. I have no problem with the weight loss happening slowly; I'm in this for the long haul. I'm 28 (217 & 5'11") and I really want to see my abs, damn it!

One thing... most experts will say that losing more than ~2 lb/wk will mean losing muscle as well as fat... and I don't think you want to do that.
Losing a lot of weight is a long-term goal...
Eat less overall, and make sure you are eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Calorie counters like myfittnesspal.com (and others) will help you thread the needle between eating too little and eating too much.
My $0.02 (FWIW I've lost ~30 lb this year with another ~30 to go)
