The May madness "Running Total"thread. Log your running/jogging/walking miles here!

With last months success, we'll continue with the Running Total monthly thread. The purpose is to log all your running, jogging, walking or any other thing like elliptical mileage here. Also, any general questions that someone might have about the above activities could be addressed. So get those shoes on and hit the road running. :)

I just completed my first half marathon today. I finished in 2:35. That put me in my goal time of under 12 a mile.

First 9 were easy, started to feel it on 10, then suffered through the finish. I dropped almost 45 seconds a mile for the last 3.

I suppose it's not bad, but I sure wish I had held back till mile 10 instead of increasing speed at mile 7.

Live and learn I suppose.

Still makes me very happy when I consider I had never run at all till last thanksgiving...so about 4.5 months from couch to half marathon. I have lost 25-30 lbs (depends on what day you weigh me lol) since then and dropped 4 inches in my waist.

Going to get serious about cycling now and drop running to 2 days a week.

Oh, and if you are curious, my legs have never hurt this much in my life....seriously.

Vesteroid, great job on the half marathon, and the weight loss!! Your experience mirrors my half from last year. The first 10 miles were fine, but the last 3.1 hurt big time. Do yourself a favor and do a short 2 to 3 mile recovery run tomorrow at an easy pace. It will help with your leg pain.

Now for mile my mileage, today I did a 5.3 mile road run. I am trying to ramp up my running a little so that I can run a solid 10k at any time. That way I can run a 10k event whenever, or maybe a sprint duathlon if I can.

HP thanks!

I am hoping to catch up to you by the end of summer. Your actually an inspiration.

I have about a billion frequent flier miles, maybe one day I can get up that way for a rrun or ride.

Wow, I am honored to be an inspiration, but certainly not worthy of it. I would however love to do a run or ride with you. I have met several different members of the forum here, and it has always been fun. Oregon is great place to visit if you are a bike or running nut. Also, just a great place to visit in general.:)

Ouch, I dropped back to hiking today. After running the half marathon, I thought I would be hiking like a champ. Ouch. Did 17 miles with 3200 feet of climbing and my,legs are trashed....I mean trashed.

Kinda frustrated it was not easier..was breathing hard on the climbs....guess it will only help my running and cycling.

Someone tell me at what point does this get easy?

Oh I am in, but let's go hiking I Oregon. I love road trips and finding new trails. Hell I can bring the bike
...you run way too fast for me but maybe I can keep up on the bike if I adjust your brakes for you before we go ;)

I'm still running, but have been slacking on logging my miles here. I have 7 runs this month with a total of 30 miles. It seemed like the thread participation was dwindling, so I though about letting it slide.

May has been a great month for riding so far, but the flip side of that is it's been a bad month for running. I've been out twice this past week, but only after a lapse of over 2 weeks. Both times were my usual - quarter mile walk, 2.75 mile run, quarter mile walk.
