Very Sad Day

This morning, a good friend died why enjoying what he loved, cycling. He was hit by a car and did not survive.

Bob (Robert) taught me a lot. We sat at the same table of a restaurant and broke bread while talking about what we loved, cycling.

He will be dearly missed. He shared so much with the cycling community. His love for photography, cycling, guns, and statistics is where he shared is passion and much of it with others.

He will always be remembered and missed.

Please be careful out there everyone.

Such a sad day for you and Bob's family. Glad you had such a friend. But sorry for this tragic loss.

I am so sorry. Too many of us are dying out on the roads. That ain't right.

How about a ghost bike to remember him by?

He will be remembered by what he gave to the community. The bike club will do something in remembrance for him. He shared everything he had with people who loved the same things he did. http://bobwheeler.com/

I'm furious every time I read about these accidents.

I can't even imagine how you must be feeling right now.

I hope maybe you can salvage something positive from this.

My sincerest condolences.

Edit: Thanks for the link.

It is quite a loss to the DE bike community. I never met Bob but I know for a fact that many riders(myself included) in this area used his website to find and route local rides. My condolences go to his family and his friends.

Too many stories like this. When will it end?

Sorry for your loss. It sounds like he touched a lot of people and helped them in the sport he loved.

He was remarkable just for being able to ride at his age. We would get a snicker of a smile on his face when passing younger riders on hills.

I cannot sleep tonight thinking about what had happened. But knowing now he is in a better place, with a bike of course, mapping out new cue sheets for all!

So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.

As others have said, I'm sickened every time I hear about something like this.

Sad indeed. The frequency of these stories is getting to alarming levels.

Good memories will trump the sadness of the tragedy.
