My ride from Thursday August 2. My riding partner had a rough go of it on this day and we really had to back off after the first 30k, he rode for another 50 after that and I continued on too meet up with the club and finish the day with them. It's our Thursday avening social ride in which no one gets dropped so the pace was real low but still good to be on the bike.

My biggest climb to date Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. Strava lists the climb as 3.3 miles and 971 feet, I think the climb really starts at just past mile 7 where you start going up for a total of 4.7 miles and 1250 feet. Either way you look at it it's a decent hill lol. I picked a pace that felt hard but sustainable, I probably could have gone a little harder at times but my goal was to make it up without stopping (I stopped briefly at mile 8 or so to attach my lights but that was before the "real" climb started).

Last Sat, July 28 we did a family ride in Denali Natl Park after camping at Teklanika we took busses with our bikes back to Eielson and rode 36 miles back to our campground at Tek. 3000 feet of climbing and we had some fun with a Caribou that decided to trot right along side my wife for a short bit. Grizzlies, sheep and other wildlife were also seen. Three grandparents, dad, and two grandkids. What a hoot https://app.strava.com/rides/15749597

Here's my biggest ride so far this month. Not very long, but 1,000' in 3.5 miles certainly isn't easy - but i'm getting faster (or should I say "less slow"?).

https://app.strava.com/activities/16780795#

I went wine tasting with my wife and a friend of hers at the top of the hill.

Gina and I did a 70 miler today, average 15.1. HOT ride, 106 max, 94 average. Penty of times I saw the temp at 98-102 while riding. I saw the 106 in direct sunlight while refiling water bottles at a stop. Thank goodness it dropped to 86 near the coast and on the return.

I've never seen Gina sweat so much!

We stopped a lot! Seems that every drink I took was an entire large water bottle. Gina is not one for posing but I told her pose or cut the break short and back on the bike into the heat. So she ended up posing her Two Tones. She needs more time in shorts. I've never seen Gina drink or sweat so much. I have to give her credit though. She used to wuss in the heat but today she didn't complain and this was probably the hottest ride she's done.

101 in the shade early in the ride

Another 41 with Gina. 16.0 average, Average temp 96.1, max temp according to gramin connect 111 but that was sitting in direct sunlight at a refill station for 5 minutes.

Pretty good that Gina could hold a 16.0 the day after a 70 miler.
