I took a long weekend (Thursday through Monday) and, according to my GPS, did 12,000 feet of elevation gain. Not an inch of it was on my bike, but I climbed about 1,000 vertical feet of the Sahale Glacier.

Five days (expected) food plus extra just in case, water (!), tent, sleeping bag, air mat, bear canister, full storm gear, extra clothing, lots of wool, ice axe, crampons, camera, the pack itself ... it adds up.

Camping at 8,000 feet at the foot of a glacier, you've really got to bring more than you think you'll need.

575miles and 13,500 feet of climbing. Did a century this week and one last week. That's a first for me. Doubt I can do one a week but fun to have done two this summer. Did 23,572 feet of climbing in April when I was in Denali Park for several rides.

Dang - nice work digibud!

For me so far this month - 299.8 miles and 13,202 feet.

It's too bad we're doing our Clyde ride to the Mt Baldy Village on 9/1 or I could probably get to 20k feet for the first time ever. I hear there's a club.
