Find someone to coach you so you preform a perfect dead lift. In my opinion (and many, many others share it) the dead lift is the best core and back workout you can do when done properly.

You know, when I was in college nd afterwards, I powerlifted for a long time. I never even thought about the deadlift with my current problem. This may just be the one excercise that I can strengthen my back with while doing the others to strengthen the abs, obliques, and the hip flexors with yoga thrown in to stretch. Hmmmm....gonna need to research a few gyms around here.

You don't start "practicing" yoga because you're already good at it:-) It's the means to the excuse you're using to not start in the first place.
