Just wanted to share my First Decade!
I completed my first decade run today. Took about an hour. So pumped. Please understand my area is not that easy to get around because so much traffic. I actually took 2 miles just to get to the actual bike lane friendly areas. The traffic light gods were with me at the time because they turned green as I approached the lights at the crossings. Got passed by 2 friendly Road Bikes who were talking as they were going about 15-17 mph...uphill
I have a lot to learn and look forward to. Good sunrise also.
I would have stopped to take pics but was too busy watching for traffic. And I learned that I am definitely going to get the Ergon bar ends because I was starting to get sore with my hands in the same position... I started putting hands up on the bar like I had bar ends, and they actually started feeling better.Like I said, am so pumped right now, so sorry for the rambling.
Btw finally took on this on this one hill that was pretty daunting and conquered it. Even learned to shift the front gears to make the hill climb easier WOOT!!!!

Well I figured people are always talking about their Century Runs (100 miles), that I can scale it back to my capability the Decade run ( 10 miles ) LOL. I'll eventually get to a Century by next year.

Eh, I figured it would be something to movtivate me to keep getting better. Next goal is the Silver Run (25 mile)....like the anniversary LOL

I think it's the use of the term "run" that's causing people some confusion. At least it did me.

How much traffic are we talking about? I ride in the streets of Chicago and find I feel safer in heavy traffic than when I get out of the city and have cars whizzing past me at 45 mph and above.
I also find heavy traffic safer than a MUP trail at prime time. The downfall of it is the lights and stops signs kill your average speed quick and the constant starting from a dead stop eats your leg power quick.
