I love my new wheel set

I just bought a new set of wheels for my S-Works Roubaix and I couldn't be any happier. After reading a ton and talking to a few different wheel people I ended up having wheelbuilders build me a set. I bought Some DT Swiss 350's and Hed Belgiums 36 spoke with Gatorskins 25;s.

I love how they feel. They seem to be very fast. I don't how they can be both stiff and "cushy" at the same time but they are. The way they handle bombing down the mountains are amazing. I have never road tubeless before but I think I may now know what they might ride like.

I sure am glad I decided to go this route. Just thought I would tell everyone how nice they are!

What mountain roads do you bomb down, Mr Denver? What are the chances you can be talked into posting some photos from some of your rides? And of your new wheels, too?

As an FYI, it seems like most people think that Conti GP4000 S tires are a large ride quality improvement over gatorskins. (when you wear yours out you can test that theory)

Sounds so close to what I ride now. I have the 2013 Roubaix, though it is not an S-Works. I have the HED Belgiums in 32 spoke laced to White Industries Hubs. I too really love my wheels. I shaved off over a pound from my previous wheelset and I am loving it!

they are, and faster, too. Oh, and the cornering. And the braking. Pretty much all the tire-ing, then.

I didn't realize the Belgiums were available in 36h. I thought they were limited to 32h. Hope you continue to enjoy your wheels. We look forward hearing how many miles you rack up on those rims.

Hi there bigfred. You're correct. My bad they are only 32 hole. I just wasn't paying attention when I started this post the other day.
Thanks for the scoop on the better tires as well guys. I will try those out on my next go around. I'm probably only going to get about 4k miles of riding this summer so it will be a while before I need new tires. Or so I have read. Hi seattle. If you watched the USA Pro challenge you saw some of what is available here on the front range on day six. I was up there on Flagstaff and even saw myself on TV when I watched the recording that evening. Along with the climbs on TV that day we have tons of climbs all along the front range. Many are so close to my house that I can ride away from the garage and be climbing within the hour. Look Out Mountain is withing riding distance from my house as is all the of rides that make up part of the Deer Creek Challenge, which happens to be the most difficult century ride in America. Red Rocks I can see from my house and ride there several times a week. We can ride up to Evergreen and beyond. Every year we have a ride called The Triple Bypass. If you cared to look at any maps of the front range you could see countless canyons to ride within minutes. We also have many mountain rides such as The Copper Triangle. Mount Evans. Breckenridge to Vail pass ect. I will start taking pics of some of our rides as well as some of my bike.

Glad to hear you're liking the HEDs. I'm planning on getting a pair of their C2 rims for my first wheel build. I've heard great things about the wider profile working very well with 23Cs run at slightly lower pressures. The word on the street is it's a ride comparable to tubulars in terms of comfort and cornering without any increased risk of pinch flats.

I just got the hubs last week - now I need the money to buy the rims. Maybe next month.

Has anyone tried the Vuelta Corsa HDs? I just put them on my bike. See pretty sturdy. They need a little bit of truing out of the box though. Little disappointed by that but otherwise so far been pretty good.
