Thank You Thank You Thank You
As of this morning I've lost about 38 pounds; my BP is 110 over 65; and my Resting HR is 41. Not a mistype, it's 41. A year ago, before I joined BF, I was obese and could barely walk up stairs or get out of chairs; nowadays I ride my bike like a crazy person, fly effortlessly up stairs, and can keep up with the Grandkids. I haven't felt this good in over ten years, back in those days when I was a gonzo bicyclist. In about 6 months I'll turn 60 and have no chronic disease issues, and am on no medications.
I still have over 25 pounds to lose to get to goal, but I'm very encouraged. I wanted to type a special "Thank You" note to my friends on the forums here. You all have been a great encouragement and inspiration and I hope we will continue our journeys to health together. I've lost weight through Weight Watchers and Bicycling, with a lot of aerobic walking thrown in on the side; my main encouragement is my wife, who is also getting healthier and losing weight; and BF has been a wonderful support forum. So, "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!" :thumb: |
You should have a physical exam and have your doc check your thyroid functioning to assure that everything is okay. A resting heart rate of 41 can be concerning.

My resting heart rate is better now than it was when I was in my 30's. I had a job that was very physical and maintained about 50-60 resting heart rate. It is now below 50, and my blood pressure went from stage 2 hypertension to pre-hypertension over the last year. Back then I ate whatever I wanted with lots of junk food. I still am far from perfect in what I eat, but have made a serious shift towards healthy.
It is amazing what cycling can do for you simply by sticking with it. Congratulations to you. |
Congrats!!!! Every drip of sweat pays off! Nice job!

Great job and THANK YOU for the motivation ;)

Congratulations on your success. I just got back from my Weight Watchers meeting and recorded a small loss for a total of just over 55lbs. I love the bike......the best exercise yet. Looking forward to hearing about more of your successes.

Nice job! I am right behind you!

Great job! Keep up the good work.
I have lost 40 pounds this year through bicycling and lifestyle change. It feels so awesome. BTW, you have the best username on BF in my opinion, Tractor Legs! |

BF should start a fund for starving fat guys... You health nuts who are saving so much on food bills and medical coverage can send your excess money to BF for a charge account whereby we normal people can get a free burger or bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken in an emergency, like when we haven't eaten anything for over 2 hours.
Either that, or save the extra coin, and buy yourself a new bike because N+1 rules. |
Congratulations! I'm right behind you - started at 265, down 34, and 31 to go. Doesn't it feel great to be fit again? I feel like I got about 10 years younger along the way too!

Here's "before" and "middle" pictures. No "after" picture yet because I still have 26 or 27 pounds to go until goal.

Thank you! for the encouraging post. I'm down 36 lbs but have stalled in the last two weeks and I still have 40 lbs to go. The most exciting thing for me is how much easier it is to get up the hills at 243 than it was at 279:D Can't wait to see what it's like under 220!
