OT: We won a bike!

Last Sunday my wife took part in the local WAVE, all women's ride.

Post-ride we walked the vendors and decided to buy one raffle ticket to support the cause ($10). We forgot all about the raffle as we never win anything but last night we get a call to come pick up our prize as we won second prize in the raffle. We get to the pick-up location and we won this:

We were very excited and thrilled. Seems to be a reasonable entry-level MTB and you cant beat the price ;)

I guess we can no longer say 'we never win anything' :)

Cool! So your spouse can mountain bike with you now?

Ironically its a 19.5" frame and suits a rider "5'11" to 6'2". My wife is 5'0" :) But we are not complaining. We may trade it in for something more size appropriate.

My wife has a 1993 Cannondale MTB and I like to have 'the best i possibly can'. With bikes, Im like a spoilt child. I confidently asked her to ride the trails with me on Tuesday, she agreed, and went on to thoroughly whoop me up and down the trail. :)

Congratulations. That is awesome. I wasted all my winnings when my younger siblings were in elementary school and I would take them to their school fairs and end up winning door prizes like "fence stretchers". I'm so jealous.

'Fence Stretchers' can be cool - kind of. ;)

They might be useful now, but not for a then twenty year old girl. (we won't say how many years ago this was.)

Good looking bike, I love them dusty trails. Every dog has its day, or should I say, Every CLYDE!

Thanks!

Ha! - I dont know, she's 150+lbs lighter than me and on a road bike I can hold my own with her. On the trails, I was gasping for air 2 miles into the ride ;)

My wife kicks my butt up hills when she wants to. Go figure.

Congrats on winning the bike, it's a little odd that its a specific size frame but hey - I bet it's your size. :innocent:

Fun, isn't it? Back in '98 or so I won a bike in a photo contest run by a local arts and entertainment maganize. It wasn't much if a bike (a Cannondale M 300), but it was o.k. for things like smooth trails. Today it sits in my basement gathering dust. I should probably donae it.

The rub is I literally bought a MTB in the last month. The raffle bike is a perfect fit for me as Im 6'0". What are the chances of that? Winning a bike, in my size but I just bought one!!!

Makes you think there is some kind of non-randomness to the universe. ;)
