Yeah only until you ask him how much climbing there was in that 7 miles. Knowing IBO it is 3,000 feet of climbing.

Not sure how much more riding I will get this month. In a few days I am headed back north and there is a winter storm warning back up there for six inches of snow.

Guess it is time to start walking again and pull out the skiis.

235km Since Monday. I plan on about 60km tomorrow and 200 or so in the weekend. That gives me about 495km for the week.

October Goals:

1. 315 miles (original goal 300...+5%)
2. Make it to The Village on Oct 14 (lots of Breast Cancer rides that day and won't do those because I committed to this ride...so will be conquering The Village in my mom's honor)...would be really nice if my Bikes for Boobs kit came EARLY! May have to go find a pink jersey of some sort!
3. Complete MS ride (at least 50 miles each day...I may "try" for the 100 on Day 1 just to see how far I make it)
4. Ride entire SGRT round trip

10/4 16.7 with 804 feet of elevation gain

I had a 50+ miler planned out and was feeling good, when I broke a spoke at mile 8. I limped back home with a wobbly front wheel. All is repaired though and the weekend awaits!! I guess that is my bike's way of telling me "KEEP PEDALING, YOU ARE STILL A CLYDE!!!!!!!!!!"

MTD 35.6 with 1562 feet of elevation gain

Hexed?! I Love the heat. Although I took Tuesday off, hehe. I did commute Monday though and Google said it was 97f (36c) when I left the office. Even did a bit longer than just the ride home by not taking the street past the freeway, went further up to the bicycle overpass, added 1.5 miles to my ride. Riding in the heat is easy, as long as you don't run out of water. Sweating keeps you cool, the speed keeps it evaporating, body temperature is well maintained.

I did a 5 mile walk this summer in that kind of heat, it was worse, didn't carry any water with me, wasn't going as fast to evaporate the sweat, at about the last mile I could feel my body temp rising, that was an interesting experience. Got home jumped in a cool shower, it was a good day.

Okay so far this month with Monday's commute and two additional evening rides I'm up to 47 miles. I want to break my record this weekend and do 40 miles on Saturday, see if I can make it.

10/1 - 26.9
10/3 - 9.6
10/4 - 10.3

Thanks Chef for the article on riding in the rain. I'm just curious how often in New Jersey that you get warm rain? Here in Northern California, when it rains it's usually cold arctic rain as the jet stream dips south from it's usual trajectory of sending that rain to Seattle. Very occasionally we'll get a tropical storm up from LA, but that's so rare, rain is usually more bad than good.
