That looks like a great area to ride in.

Kinda quaint, but this is part of the trail within 3 blocks of my house. I like this hard, banked right.

Not yet have I had the brass to ride the rail. Too narrow for me, thx

that skinny looks fun, hope the entry on the other side is a bit easier then what is shown.

Only slightly. This is a really technical trail and I walked about 40% of it my first time out. Improving my ability on it over the course of weeks was a great joy. I'm still staying away from that damn rail though.

You can't really see it in that first pic but the trail has a nice drop-off before entering that right turn. You hit that sucker with some speed and really have to throw the bike over to not wind up in the brush. So fun!

This thread gives me some jealousy concerning where some folks get to ride (yep, looking at you jsigone, lol) but I am thankful to have this gem of a mtb trail in my 'hood.

jsigone 11-19-13 12:31 PM

IMO new trails/dirt always does that plus don't know the speed needed yet. I find it best to just stay clipped in and lean back to see what happens when you come up on stuff, trust ur skills. But that is a awesome trail system you got in your hood. I have a decent place near home too but it's full of hills to get to the fun single track stuff, but no skinnies or bridges. But it makes for a nice decent back home, picture a bowl, u have to climb up to the rim, decent into the bowl then climb up the other side where the good stuff is out, but always have to climb out somehow. My normal loop there if I got a few hours http://www.strava.com/activities/57863306

That is gorgeous and looks so wide. Man I'm so jealous of you folks who get lunch breaks at work. My equipment needs to stay running so I have to eat while I work. Would love to ride my bike like all the bosses who are out for their hour run at lunch every day.

Here are a couple of my trails.

The tunnel is my favorite part.

And the 6 mile ride that is between the 2 paved bike trails. I'm disappointed that they were out surveying not long ago to pave this as I like the more rustic in-the-woods feel to it.

On my ride home from an overnight camping trip last weekend. This was taken in color mode. The thick fog and flat light makes it look B&W.

Allegheny River Trail And Sandy Creek Trail perhaps? Maybe the second is Clarion Highlands? I am looking into Youngstown, OH or Butler, PA to Philly. Tentative plan is to ride to Franklin and take Samuel Justus to the Allegheny River Trail to Emlenton to pick up PA Route V.

Both are the Allegheny River trail. The dirt trail is between Emlenton and Foxburg where they haven't paved yet and is just basically a quad trail. I wasn't sure if you could get through to Foxburg and rode this one late evening. Rode through while light out this 6 miles, rode the 2.5 miles of paved Foxburg to Parker, then tinkered a bit past Parker to see what was on that side, which was huge mudholes that I had to push the bike between the trees to go around. About 3 miles into that figured I'd best turn around as I didn't want to navigate the mudholes in the dark, rode back to Foxburg in twighlight, and rode in the woods on the dirt trail from Foxburg back to Emlenton in complete darkness (two 38 lumen flashlights mounted on my handlebars.) Riding the kinda narrow trail in the dark was really cool. All the noises in the trees beside the trail a foot to your right you don't know if it is deer, bear, or Sasquatch :D. I think I remember there was at least 4 deer that appeared in my lights which don't project very far onto the trail.

Most of the people I've talked to on weekends on the Allegheny River trail has been from Ohio. There are a few locals that I see daily of the older generation. It gets pretty packed on the weekends, I might see up to 6 people in my 1 - 1.5 hours of riding, LOL.

Because it rained Thursday and Friday, I was on the road bike Saturday. Did the Santiago Canyon Loop, the quintessential OC road ride... 34 miles, 3100' of climbing. Weather perfect; around 60 degrees. First scene coming down Glenn Ranch Rd. just before the real climbing starts into the Santa Ana Mountains. Second photo shot from a bridge showing Red Rock Canyon. Lots of roadies out enjoying the nice weather. Ride was tough for me; I feel asleep around 6pm... today legs still tired; went hiking instead...

Rained Friday so mountain biking was out for the weekend except for one trail - Trabuco Creek. A few of us ventured out in chilly conditions (for CA)... starting tempo was 46 degrees but it warmed up to 55...

Weekend Marsh Ride

The winter has been so dry that what is normally a clay-mud fest is still passable on a road bike!

Did my first real ride today managed 7.3 miles in the extremely hilly countryside around my house. 861 calories, 544 ft of climb, 175bpm avg HR, 10.1 avg mph. I will admit to pushing the bike uphill twice, once since I stopped half way though a climb then had my first get off due to inexperience with clipless pedals. I've got some work to do, but its a start. My first "rides" were ~3 miles just getting used to having a saddle up in the business. I'm pretty happy with my progress. Only really used the trainer up until this point.

Just couple pics from the ride:

And here is my gnarly calf modification from my get off. I'd like to think it makes me more aero.https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...83336217_n.jpg
