New lights for me! he he he
Currently, I have two rear lights, a helmet light and also bar lights plus reflective spoke tape (that are awesome).
Worked with my friend last weekend to put more lights on. He is the head mechanic at the shop by me and is the only one to have these lights and he is also a commuter. He built them from different parts and they are awesome.
They run off the water bottle battery and controlled by remote. It has something like 30 colors you can pick. Love them!
Here is a pic of my commuter in the light.
Here are two links to videos of the lights on my bike. The videos sorta suck so I apologize.

This one I sent to my commuting friend, Chris, in CA. Also, no sure how to rotate the video. lol

That's hella sick! WANT! Please take my money! :-)
Actually I would love a set, but at the same time as far as I know in the US, forward facing lights other than white or yellow are illegal, so you'll have to be careful with some of the color switching.

A++ on safety, C+ on aesthetics. Safety trumps looks everyday. I like simple, but the frequency of bad/sad/fatal bike-car encounters is turning those Christmas tree light set ups into a no brainer.

There are not front facing lights. I can dim them I can make them brighter but they are not FRONT facing lights. Its like a limo that has runner lights.

Pulling your leg chef, nothing really.... i miss typed it was a B+ ;-). Seriously, i guess the thought of more things attached to the bike makes it look more busy, and I'm the simple is better type of mind in regards to aesthetic perception. I imagine that's why i made the comment.
I thought the headlight/backlight combo would suffice but stats are showing us that there's no such thing as too many lights to make ourselves more visible. If i were riding at night i'd definitively consider anything available to make sure drivers would notice me, and safety would always trump aesthetics in my book.

You will find us folks in the commuting world might be the most Fred of them all! Everything has to be functional.
Overkill? Perhaps. But unique. It catches peoples attention and commuting is all about survival.

As far as the fred look...i have/do quite a few things that put me square on the fred category so I'd be the last one throwing stones. One good thing about these part of the forum, we stopped worrying/thinking about that already. Whatever it takes to get us riding is all that matters.

Agree on all counts. No intention of coming across as negative criticism. I don't think overkill when it comes to safety, specially after the recent string of news regarding terrible car-bike encounters. I know that if i see a Christmas tree on wheels on the street it will catch my attention if only to ask "what the hell is that"? Serves its purpose and I'm sure for many other drivers as well.

Now all you need to be completely Fred is to turn the bullhorns around so they point out.

The funny that happened this morning when riding at 4:15 AM to work. The first guy I saw on the bike was coming toward me in the other lane and just stared at me. Then another rider was coming by. This guy I have never seen but he yelled out "I could see you a mile away". Then I road past a park and a guy was walking who usually rides in the morning and he waived me down and said he could see me coming form the other street. Ha. I love them!
