A couple of years ago a buddy and I went on a 5 Boro group ride through all the boros and Long Island. We chose to have fried clams with tartar sauce, and calamari with an adult beverage for lunch on City Island. That wasn't perhaps the wisest choice on an 85 mile ride - we only avoided Staten Island.

:-)

Durian is not that bad.

There is a dessert shop at the bottom of my apt. building that specialises in it. Packed every night.

Just remembered that next Saturday I am supposed to attend a fundraiser/cocktail party thing at the Academy of Natural Sciences. They will be serving food based on their collection. Yet-to-be-announced insects, python, buffalo, sushi, various game sausage, etc. A local gelato maker is going to serve a flavor made with some sort of larva. There will be 15 varieties of salt from around the world. There may even be muskrat scrapple. I will let you know if I end up going and whether I ate something I shouldn't have.

In N Out, my brother bought it for me! I've totally been craving mac n cheese for a while, haven't had it in years! Even scooby's workshop allows you one cheat meal a week, it's keeping it at one and not giving in to sweet snacks that's hard.

Tomorrow I'm going to eat pizza. Three slices, at least. Probably more; I'm going to a club meeting and the carbs and alcohol will be flowing like the great Niagara Falls.

But I'm not worried about it; I knew this was coming and as a result I bought a lot fewer groceries this week. So few in fact that all I had available for lunch today was 4 sticks of celery with some peanut butter. Tomorrow I won't have any food left after breakfast. I'm not starving myself, really. I have simply learned that if I am going to enjoy a guilty night of pizza, I just have to prepare for it beforehand so that the calories don't blow my progress up.

Plus it's my experience that if you eat very small amounts of food in preparation for "Pizza Swimming", when the actual feast begins you get full faster!

I bought three ounces of very fine cheese. As in $50 a pound kind of cheese.

I at it all immediately.

I'm about to eat a chocolate cannoli. I've run 3x in the last 3 days including a surprising PB tonight so I will eat it proudly and w/o remorse!

So would my wife and I, we love cheese and can't keep the "expensive" cheese around any longer than the cheap cheese from the grocery store.

If I could get welfare cheese from the grocery store, I'd eat myself into a grilled cheese coma.

I had a rough business trip this week. The only full-service restaurant in the airport terminal Wednesday was On The Border. I had the Ranchilada Plate- some kind of ranch style steak (whatever ranch style means) and a couple enchiladas and black beans. I was smart enough to tell them to leave the rice off, but it was bad.

Last night I engaged in a guilty pleasure: ribs. I don't know how bad they are really. I mean, think about it: You get this big rack of meat, but probably 1/4 to 1/3 of it is bones. It looks like a lot of food, but really isn't that much. It takes a while to eat them, again adding to the illusion of more food than there is. And I ordered the half rack. I had healthy sides- green beans and squash. Okay, the meat is fatty, but I think overall if I'm gonna eat something that's not the best, ribs are probably not horrible.

The question is: How many gallons of barbecue sauce did you have with that

That actually doesn't sound that bad. In fact Ribs may now be on the menu for the weekend.

I didn't add any bbq sauce. What they came with is what I ate.

And that's why you're down to 210 when I'm sitting at 211.9 (I claim this as 211).

Oh, if you want to play that game, I'm about 209.3.

So, as expected, I ate 3 slices of pizza. And I was positively stuffed. Probably should have stopped after 2, finishing the 3rd was a chore. Prepared for it all day though; had 2 slices of toast for breakfast, 2 chicken sausages for lunch, and a cup of tomato soup. I may have eaten something else but I cannot remember what.

Woke up this morning to see the scale tip in at 365.2 vs yesterdays 365.1. Too close to call it an actual weight gain as it's well within my mean daily variation. It's 3 pounds below my weight trendline so I'm calling it an overall victory.

You CAN over-indulge on good-tasting junk foods. You just have to prepare for it, and make sure the frequency isn't high. Once a week is plenty for me.

Where I am working there is an Indian resturant I. The parking lot of my hotel. I can smell the curry when I leave I. The morning for work. I went to their all you can eat buffet and despite my best attempts I ate what I estimated as 14000 Clories worth of spicy eastern goodness. I biked 86 miles that week (the most since getting back o. The bike this time) and still lost a pound a week last month, (I only weigh in at dr visits, otherwise I get depressed.) but I can only guess what I might have lost if I had only been able to resist that third plate of tandoori chicken.
