Oh no! Missed a week!

Last week I had a really vicious head cold, stayed home from work for 3 days, and probably should've missed the whole week. And then this weekend in order to really try and recover I didn't go out either. I've stayed off the scale for 2 weekends, and just checked Strava today, it says I'm a horrible 79 miles off my monthly goal. I'm not making that happen in 2 evenings, bleh. I'm a little scared to check the scale this weekend, although I don't feel or look any squishier than previously, but I've been making an effort to "feed a cold" so it would go away. Just yesterday I started going back to eating lighter, which doesn't work well when you go out to custom burrito's with the co-workers.

That's it, just wanted to be bummed out with my fellow riders. :-)

I have been off my bike for two weeks. I have a strange water weight thing going on that my doc wants to look into farther. I can gain or lose up to 15lbs in a day. She has grounded me until some tests come back....grrrrrrr

I've been off for two weeks since the surgery. I'm with you both. What do the doctors know, anyway?! Meanwhile, my bike sits there, taunting me. I heard it call me "lazy" the other day. I taught it. I let all the air out of the tires! I get to ride again on Thursday, and I can't wait!

My bike tires are flat. I haven't ridden in about a week. However; I've been walking around the track. You're sick. Take care of yourself and feel better soon.

Fractured my collar bone and tuberosity on June 2nd. Didn't get back on a bike for even a flat, 8 mile ride until July 4th. Still managed to do several hard rides and events later in the summer, including the 100K route of D2R2 and Cycle Oregon. Things like that happen. You will be back.

Thats 1.8 gallons of water....thats seems like an impossible amount of water to ingest or expel in a day....you sure your scale isnt whacked?

I haven't ridden since the second day if the MS ride. I took the weekend off his past weekend and have had stuff to do on the weekdays so no rides. I'm ok with it. I'm set to do a 70 miler with Team Long Beach meetup cycling group...Part will be on SART.

This month I have ridden less than any month since I started riding a year and a half ago. I've been north without my road bike and then lost motivation to ride the hybrid. I bought a mountain bike though and have done just short of 30 miles on it in the past few days.

I hate cold.

I am going to Mpls at the end of the week, then to our Iowa place for about a month, then down the Florida. I should see good riding in Florida this winter. I am spending one month at an rv resort on the Pinellas trail and a month and a half at a resort on the Withlacoochee trail. Should be fun. But there is more traveling around early and late winter so I don't expect to get as much riding in this winter as compared to last year. December I am chasing birds in Florida at a number of locations, I'll have to see how the riding goes. Late March I'll be chasing birds in the Carolinas, then up to Ohio in April.

I'm tired just typing about it.

Good birding this fall though. Counted 1920 swans in one day on October 22.

I've been off the bike and not running for nearly two weeks, too. Hurt my lower back - probably from running in minimalist shoes on concrete and asphalt.

I'm hoping to get back on the bike tomorrow.

For the month of October I will have a grand total of 10.6 miles on my bike. I'm ashamed of myself. Either time constraints, or just not feeling well, i.e. hangovers.

I'm hoping to make some of it up with the extra couple of days off I get for the Thanksgiving weekend.

No sarcasm. I was impressed with your accomplishments too - going from no riding at all between June 2nd to July 3rd, then a hard flat 8-miler on the 4th - and then in the months since you've come back full on. Good job, great dedication!

Thanks. but my response was directed at the one who made the comment. His use of the word "us" suggests something other than sincerity. The last sentence is unnecessary to convey the sentiment expressed in the first two.

Update: I got back on the bike on October 31st, and rode to work, dressed in my PacMan outfit:

When I got to work, my back was hurting again. Left the bike at work, got a ride home. Took the rest of the week off, and will not get back on the bike again until this weekend - three full weeks off the bike (except for that one-way commute), and probably another week not running.

Am gonna buy some different running shoes (Brooks PureFlows or PureCadence*) to run on hard surfaces, and leave my VFFs for running on dirt and general walking.

Week 4 of my C25K is gonna take about 5 weeks. I should still be ready in time for the Run In The New Year 5k.

* - I'm a mid-foot striker, and traditional trainers don't work for my stride.

I am a firm believer in listening to your body, and you know it best, not an MD. With that said, there is something to be said about fresh air when you are sick. I do like to ride (mellow) when I am fighting a little something, but when my body says no, I listen and drive to work (grrrrrrr...).
