Thanks for the kind words and support. I have continued riding the trainer and rollers so am keeping active. My son and I start a spin class tonight at the LBS I deal with, 20 classes total and to top it off we are suppose to have temps that will allow us to ride this week outside!!!!

Ok so nice start to the week, scales said 220 a lot nicer than the 225 last week. For those who are looking at this I have been on the bike everyday, either on the road, trainer or rollers and for at least 30 minutes. I have cut back my food intake but would be lying to say I don't indulge but instaed of the whole mixing bowl of popcorn I have a dessert bowl or two..lol! My sweet tooth has been taken care of by fruits like grapes and pineapple.

I started keeping a log of what I eat. It's not pretty and my daughter has already admonished me after just 1 day. so this is promising ...

I've tried to log what I eat in the past as many will attest helps them a lot, it did nothing for me. I just wrote down all the crap I ate, didn't feel bad about it cause as soon as the journal was closed I forgot all about it. What has helped me the most is to just not have the junk lying around the house. I'm not the kinda guy who eats junk outside of the house and I work in a factory setting and whatever I take in my lunch bag had better be enough because it's all I got.

Am now 218, things are starting to feel good and all the work I'm doing on the trainer and rollers will hopefully have me ready for the spring....it's coming and I have a new bike coming to make it even more special. 33 more pounds to go.

I did the gym thing for 20 years and even paid for personnel trainers for a few of those trying to loose weight and I always got same result, I put on weight in muscle. I finally talk to my doctor last year and we discussed what I wanted. I want to be under 190 pounds, he asked have I ever came close. The closest I came was 2005 when I took a break from gym to train for a marathon and I got down to 195. My doctor said stick with long duration steady cardio mixed with interval and sprint training on the bike and add some walking for load bearing and yoga for core and flexibility. So far it's working since I finally started that program, and seem to be on a steady minus two pounds a week. I hope this continues for awhile.

Monday morning weigh in was 214, yes another two pounds gone! So 29 more pounds to hit my goal, it would be awesome to be under 210 pounds for my first outdoor ride on the new bike!

I should get a trainer... Then I'd have an excuse to keep form while it's cold out. Of course last I checked Strava for Android doesn't support cadence and speed meters on the frame, I'd never know how far or fast I went, that's no good.

Keep going You!

Yep, no segments to win in the basement. One of my goals for the year is to get my name in the top ten of all climbing segments in my area, kinda silly but it is what it is.

Well that's odd, somehow I managed to put three pounds back on. I did drink some beer on the weekend and ate some pizza after putting up walls and drywalling the basement, oh well gotta keep it honest so today weighed in at 217 so back to 32 pounds to go. Damn!

Three pounds would be about 10,500 extra calories. That's a lot of beer and pizza! More likely, it's just part of your normal weight fluctuation. I weigh myself daily and find fluctuations of up to 2.6 lbs. from one day to the next, depending on hydration level, the amount of fiber in what I ate, and other such factors. The Beeminder graph in my signature shows the results; what's important is not the daily variation but the overall trend.

I doubt it's fat, more likely water retention from the pizza... beer makes me feel a little bloated the next day too.

I'm about 3 pounds ahead of you with the same target - I'm going to have to start checking this thread more frequently to see if I'm keeping pace.

So I lost one of the two pounds I put back on. Now sitting at 215, so 30 pounds to go. On another note its starting to get lighter out and the temps are starting to creep up, should soon be hitting the road and MTB trails. The pounds will start to seriously fall off then.

Back on track and at 213 pounds, three rides on the road and one on MUP likely had something to do with it. First LBS ride of the year, had a few moments though. First my 15 year old went down with three other guys on black ice, no real injuries and bikes ok. Second I got dropped on the big climb of the day, just couldn't stay with the group. Got teased a little there for getting dropped by my son who was setting the pace. All good fun but also more incentive to drop the weight.
edit, 28 pounds to goal.
