Clyde in WI back after 10 years

Hi! Found this forum and am intrigued by how many Clyde's ride! I've been 6'4" forever, even while in the Marines weighed 220, so this is all I know... I'm currently 260, and got back into biking this year after a 10 year hiatus. Life and 3 kids will do that to ya. I always rode treks, my old Antelope held up for 8 years before my bro wrecked it. I now own a Trek marlin (29er) and love it. It's a 2012 size 21, I bought this May, and have 900 miles on it as of today. Its the first bike I've been on that didn't make me feel 5 sizes too big for it. My goal is 1000 miles before the new year, and it's supposed to be a blizzard here this week, so I need to cram! I get around for work and bring the bike with me on most trips, have ridden the riverfront in st louis, singletrack in Columbus, and all over WI. Long term i want a better fork (want the g2) and to drop about 25 pounds. I do about 80% on road, and do all my own maintenance. I enjoy all the posts here and hope to someday join in a group ride. Finding this Clyde forum and activity was motivating! happy holidays all!

Welcome to the nut-house. Glad to hear you're "back on the horse". 900 miles since May and another 1,000 in 2 weeks? Goals are good, and ambitious goals are better, but be careful. Injuries will keep you off the bike and that can do more damage than 1,000 miles in two weeks was worth!

And yes, this is a very motivating group!

Thanks, and sorry, I meant my goal was 1000 miles total before the new year, so "only" 100 to go. I usually ride 15-20 miles at a time, and do lots of hills.

Shoveling 12+ inches of snow that Madison is going to get is a big workout.
