It's the older model but THE PRICE IS RIGHT.

Does anyone have personal experience with the model that's on sale?

I decided not to get it. The prices of the mounts are outrageous. They nickel and dime you to death ($10 and $20 you to death??).

For example, this bundle of 3 bike mounts is $80.

The ROAM is a nice cam for the features at that $99 price point; I wouldn't (didn't) buy one at full cost because they don't have a removable battery like the other Contour cams. OK if you only plan on 90 minutes of useage time, but not so much if you want to be out all day.

The old ContourHD 1080p and the newer Contour2+ have a removable BL-C5 1020mAh 3.7V battery which you can buy for about $8.00/ea on Amazon (they're old Nokia phone batteries) instead of the $30 that Contour charges for one with their brand sticker.

The two best mounts IMO are the OS Handlebar mount and the Flex Strap, worth every cent. I have a handlebar mount which has been through numerous race wrecks, multiple freeride jump crashes, and just plain beating the hell out of it and it's still holding solid as the day it was first purchased.
The flex strap is the most versatile mount and I have used it to lash my camera to trees, fences, helmets, my dog's collar, the roof rack of my car, the slider on my suspension fork (see the previous freeride crashing comment), my wife's mobility scooter, the seat rails on my CX bike, and I'm sure I'll come up with more things eventually. Again; worth every penny.
