Tough Couple of Days Ahead (Goodies)

Somebody help me'h! Where I grew up, we were taught that Los Tres Hombres took tamales to the Baby Jesus. So our famiy tradition is making tamales and eating them on Christmas Eve.

Gina also makes a goody tray for each one of the families invloved. So she bakess while Chuck supervises and I do the taste testing ha ha!

After tonight, it's down to my daughter's house for prime rib in the afternoon.

The red chili sauce is mixed into the masa. Then some is placed inside with the pork filling. The left over sauce is then heated up like a gravy and served over the tamales for eating, YUM!

Texas tamales!

I'd bet if Beachgrad scheduled a GMR ride within the next 3 days, she'd smoke me on the climb.

Just enjoy but don't go psycho on the goodies tray. A day or two of celebration won't crash a good nutrition plan.

Happy Holidays

I don't know when we got the tradition in my family of Tamales on Christmas Eve but my son and daughter and their kids will be here shortly to eat Tamales and open presents. I do know it started with me, perhaps while I was in the army in San Antonio (it was not the war for Texas independence, contrary to popular rumor).

Merry Christmas to all.

Believe me, you wouldn't want to eat them if I made them. I purchase them, usually a variety though this year it is just pork. Have three dozen steaming hot right now.

We'll be hitting the chicken tamales in a bit over an hour ourselves. Been doing that since I was young and the family across the street brought us tamales on Christmas Eve. They had 12 kids and most were married with kids of their own. They made a lot of tamales!

Hmm. It reminds me of the tradition that started in my family of making stromboli on Christmas Eve. How it started I don't know. There's not a drop of Italian blood on either side of the family.....

As if I hadn't eaten enough today, now I feel even more full just from the pictures. I swear I'm taking like a week off from eating!
