Do any of you ride with a Go Pro or smilar attached to your handle bars? When I was using the Flip I was holding it by hand and stuffing it back into my jersey pocket when I wasn't recording.

Now that I have the Go Pro on the handlebars, most riders I cross paths with will sit up straight and prety much pose while staring into the camera as we go by. Even though it is not on, they still pose!

Hehe. I have a GoPro, but I doubt anyone even notices it. Generally too busy gaping in astonishment at the plump woman on a recumbent trike with a husky to see the little camera on her pedal boom.

I don't use mine on my bicycle but I do use it out in the desert on my Husky. Most people ignore it but I have seen some people exhibit some unusual behavior including one young lady who flashed me. Why on earth a pretty young lady would flash someone with a video camera in plain sight is beyond me. Unfortunately, like Mr. Beanz my camera was on standby at the wrong time...

I don't record my entire rides. I record several small scenes then piece them together for a video.

You might be surprised at who notices them. I see them on trikes, bents etc. I notice lots of them, just my sitting up right now doesn't help so I don't bother.

I get more people looking into the camera when they see it. The Roam is all black so it doesn't stand out like the GP does. I think this applies more to hikers/runners then anyone.

I noticed the same thing: with the GoPro, people suddenly get chatty or as in one instance demand I remove them from the video. One guy asked me if I was video taping my accidents with cars. I said that wasn't my aim, just to video tape the different routes and trails in the city. I surprised no one has started juggling in front of me. It got close the other day when a couple of drunk guys tried to sing Christmas Carols but the GoPro was off. I smiled and nodded at them then rode really fast away.

I use a different camera, and it's mounted on top of my helmet, so it's pretty conspicuous. Most people look at me with a funny look on their faces. Nobody has flashed me, yet, though. I'll keep trying!

I've had one or two people tell me something when they saw my camera on in the past (The Flip)..."You can't use me in a video or I will sue you blah blah blah"

I usually respond with a "yes I can so just shut up!"

Of course they are rarely a pleasnt sight to begin with so I don't use them but they don't know, let them be bothered.

Interesting. For some reason I never would have assumed that people would ham it up for a GoPro mounted on your bike. I haven't shelled out the dough for a camera yet, but once I had a lady in a store ask me if my PB Blaze helmet light was a camera. In fairness, the light was off at the time, and it does have a big lens on it that looks a lot like a fisheye.

Funny, you sound kind of pissed in the first video, even before his comment. Sounded like you wanted to kick the guys arse ha ha!
I think he thought so too cause he just walked away without a word.

I do get lots of "whoohoos" and "cool" comments about the camera. Mainly from women. Especially on the dirt trails where most are hiking.

I keep my Contour on top of my helmet, and it's sort of hidden (from front on view) by my helmet lamp) when I'm on my commuter; and I run it all the time on my commute. The C2+ has a nifty feature that you can turn off the "recording in progress" indicator light, so nobody knows it's turned on.
It's helped recently, as a lady almost ran me over at a rainy intersection (seriously; I had the crossing light, she had a red, and she skidded to a stop with her bumper touching my leg) so I gave her quite an earful before continuing on my way. A couple minutes later, she buzzed me and laid on her horn while passing me up a hill, and *then* when I got to the center of town an officer flagged me into a gas station parking lot where she was sitting in her car next to the cruiser. The officer informed me that she wanted to press assault charges because I "reached into her car window and grabbed her jacket while yelling at her" according to her initial statement. I told the officer to inform her that I have helmet cam video which will prove otherwise, and she's welcome to take me to court if she wants to present evidence to counter that. He went over, made some gestures indicating my camera, then walked back over to me. She decided not to pursue litigation, and the officer charged her with falsifying a 911 call.


On my full-face helmet it's a bit more obvious, hanging off the left side next to my face. Tough to miss seeing it, but I haven't noticed anyone hamming it up when I ride past.

Call me crazy but that didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary, unexpected or threatening. Typical driver nothing to get excited about, shouting "F'ing idiot" at the woman seemed a waste of breath imo.

This is hilarious! I just ride, unless a friend wants me to wave. My luck would be I would pose myself right to the ground hahaha!!

I want a go pro, but I would use it for paintball as much as I do cycling, at least in cycling it won't get shot at
