I didn't intend to sprint up that hill, but
the bees had other ideas. I know how important bees are, and how good locally produced honey (orange blossom for me, thank you) is for you.
I had seen the commercial hives about a mile before I came across the path the bees were using, not sure what they are gathering pollen from this time of year, though. Going downhill on the ride out wasn't a big deal, but on the return....there I am, grinding up hill slowly, when I realize I'm being watched. One bee, about a foot away, checking things out. Then 4 bees, then 6....did I mention I was wearing a neon yellow jersey with black trim and accents, it starts to feel like a bad horror flick, as I figure out these bees think they have found the worlds largest flower. I decided to see just how fast I could climb that hill, went from 7.6 to 12.8mph and held that the rest of the grade. So if you need a sprinting motivator, find a beehive, worked for me.

Reminds me of the scene from American Flyers when they meet up with Eddie to practice their sprinting.

Sorry, but you're more man that I am. You jumped from 7.6 to 12.8. I would have hung a u-turn and hit 25mph on the downhill and found a different way home!

Remember, I'm in Florida...this was at most a 50 foot elevation change, probably 1% grade. And it's a dead end road, no other way back. But I was impressed at what some inspiration could do for my momentum; maybe I just need a bee covered chase vehicle

I realized that you were in the middle of Florida, but didn't want to insult you or the hill by bringing that up. Glad to hear you're ok, and next time, go sprint it because you WANT to - now that you know that you can!

I got a speed motivation a few weeks back. I was in a campground and going to bike out the exit. A truck with a bunch of kids in the bed was in front of me. I looked at the kids and said "wanna race." A boy of about five say "Yes!" and the truck started up. I gave it all I had and managed to keep up with the truck for a short distance and then I blasted off the road and across the grass to the official bike path. The kids cheered.
About an hour later I ran into the family at a picnic area and the little boy said "lady you are fast." It cracked me up. I am so not fast.
