First ride of 2013!

Well, back in November I parked the bike and haven't touched it until today. It rained every day in December and was too damn cold in January so I've been spending time at the nice dry and toasty gym running and weight lifting. But it's been fairly nice the last few days (for Washington, meaning 45 and overcast) so I lubed up the chain, put on some cold weather gear and hit the road. I did better than I thought I would! I rode quite a bit last year, but I know taking 2 months off isn't a good thing. My average speed wasn't where it used to be and my hill climbing flat out sucked, but overall my legs did ok. I was going to do an 18 mile route, but when I got to the crossroads of that route and a 35 mile route, I was feeling pretty good so I took the long way with a few more hills. I think all my motivation to ride like the maniac I was last year has come flying back with gusto! And I talked a few friends into attempting a 1 day Seattle to Portland ride this year so I have plenty of reason to train. Anyways, just thought I'd brag it up a bit.

Here's the ride data:

1st time out is always the hardest but once your pedaling its very rewarding.

Thanks jsigone. It felt pretty good, though my butt is sore now!
