Where I ride (video)
Here is a short video of some of the beautiful rural road that I get to ride all summer long. Sorry for the shaky hand-held footage shot with a cheap pocket camera.

Was waiting to see if you ran the stop sign but you ended the video.
Nicely done.

Looks like a nice relaxing environment...thanks for sharing.
@ Goldfinch My motto is I stop for someone but refuse to stop for no one...I'd prob not do much stopping out there.

Here's another one shot the same day. I do sorta run a stop sign in it, but you'll see I almost come to a standstill for a moment. Technically still a rolling stop though I suppose. While I'm a stickler for following the rules, there's a difference between a crawling roll on a road where you pass a car every 10 minutes and blowing through stop signs and lights in city traffic. BTW, I did stop in the first video as much to put the camera away as because of the sign. The road I'm approaching at the end of the video is the main highway through the county, not a farm to market road.
I really encourage anyone traveling through NW Minnesota to get off the beaten path as the entire region is criss-crossed with these paved farm roads and the countryside ranges from flat open plains to rolling hills with river valleys and lakes. I think it's a very little known and underrated cycling area.

It is interesting to watch your videos as my experience with the western part of the state is about nil. The northeast, where I am from, looks a lot different. Though it does look like you have some birdfoot trefoil growing in the ditches. Just like home.

If you ever get out this way and want to ride PM me.
I've not ridden there, but I've been in other parts of the state including Duluth, the Twin Cities, Taylors Falls, and Redwing. Nice country. I'm hoping to ride the Ironman in St. Croix this spring. I hear the area is beautiful.
Do you have any video from out in your neck of the woods? What area of the state are you from, if I may ask?

I am originally from north and east of Duluth in the middle of nowhere. I worked in Duluth for years and now am based for much of the summer about 50 miles from town. I ride around lakes and peat bogs. I'll have to try figuring out the video thing sometime soon.

The ones above were shot handheld with a relatively cheap pocket camera. Not the safest way to shoot video but it works if you are alone on clear roads. I just got one of these and haven't had a chance to try it out on the bike but just playing with it around the house it seems to work well. I'll need to make one minor modification due to my body angle on the bike, but otherwise it's good to go. The same company also makes handlebar and frame mounts at decent prices.

I bought a handlebar mount from WalMart but the thing is so floppy that the vibration in the video is intolerable.
