April 1, and the joke's on me

I went all of February without riding, and let almost all of March slip by without time on two wheels. I've gained a few pounds, and I'm sick of the cold weather. I'm not much of one for riding when the temps are near freezing, and even if the daily highs in Philly are finally into the 40s, the mornings -- when I'd set out for the office -- are well below that.

So between the "I wanna get outside" funk, and the "gotta get moving" urge, when I got a coupon for $5 off a local race, I quickly went to the website to sign up. Turns out, there's not that much difference in price between the distance I did last year vs the full length possible. Even though I didn't train the way I should have for the shorter race last year, I still got away with it, with only a sore foot the next week or so.

And so I shelled out the extra $20 for the extra 13.1 miles.

Yup, friends, I just signed up for the Philadelphia Marathon.

To quote The Talking Heads: And you may ask yourself, my god, what have I done?

Financially committing to a race is the best way to motivate you to do it! Congrats!

And to quote Kelly Clarkson - "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger". Here's hoping it's the latter!
