Found this on Craigslist and couldn't pass it up. According to my LBS it was in immaculate condition other than a rear flat. It's a 2010 Cannondale Synapse 4, all carbon fiber and SRAM Rival group set -- my first carbon bike. The fact that it's carbon worried me but apparently carbon fiber bikes have a weight limit of around 300 pounds, which I am not. The owner also included clipless pedals, clipless shimano shoes (which actually fit!), PB front and rear light, two water bottles, a seat bag, CO2 cratridges, a pump, gloves and come electrolyte tablets.

The owner is a retired gentlement who owns several motorcycles. He bought this from his friend who owned a bike shop when the Synapse was brand new so he and his girlfriend could ride together. Unfortunately they are no longer together so it has been collecting dust for the past year. He decided to sell both bikes really cheap so he could afford some limited edition Japanese helmet and other motorcycle goodies.

This Cannondale is temporary. It's amazing but just too much bike for me at the moment. My Giant is absolutely perfect for the riding I do. Maybe when I complete my first century I will reward myself with something similar, but for now it will go back on Craigslist/eBay.

Maybe if you level the seat it won't be too much bike.

Why don't you ride it *on* your first century? Those are good century bikes.

I sort of wish I could get excited for you. But, I can't. You've simply started another thread about purchasing a bike you don't intend to keep and instead plan to flip. Thereby, depriving someone out there of a potential good deal on a bike they would love and the seller of fair reasonable value for the bike or the good karma of extending the good deal to a appreciative buyer.

I'd love to read a thread about any long rides you've been on. Have you ever completed the longer ride goals you were aiming for when you first started posting? Did you ever join a club in the area? Or, start racing?

All of my bikes are priced VERY reasonably. Just enough to make a profit so it isn't a waste of my time. I've been going on 30-40 mile rides every 3-4 days so, sort of. Racing? No, and that probably won't happen any time soon. And it's not a club, I just found a couple friends to ride with. The last ride I went on I bonked HARD and barely made it home, but that's not much of a story. If I did sell the Giant I could keep the Cannondale and only take a small loss, which wouldn't be such a big deal.

You don't say what Giant you are riding or where you ride.

The cannondale is a road bike, best suited for going fast on pavement in good weather.

A hybrid Giant with 28 to 35mm tires, a rack and fenders is a commuter's bike, a little slower than the cannondale, but suitable for roads and well maintained gravel bike paths. Occasional rainy days are OK.

Match the bike to the riding you are doing now, and intend to do in the future.
I already have a commuting bike. adding a road bike to the stable would be great.

Bicycle fit is also very important. If it isn't a good fit, it isn't a good find, unless you just turn it over at a profit.

It doesn't really matter what you ride. Just as long as you ride!!! That's the bottom line.

I think at this point I would really be scared of a bike like that Enjoy the ride! (I would probably try to trade it for something that isn't green)

^ This right here! I road a Synapse and it was a wonderful bike! I still kick myself for not getting it and getting something else.

i don't think there is such thing as having too much bike for a ride, none the less on the roadie. MTB maybe but not on the road. If you got a good deal on that bike and it fits, then ride the crap outta it and don't have buyers remorse
