Most road shorts are going to be fairly short anyway. You can try mountain shorts if you want longer ones.

How tall are you? Have you actually tried any shorts on? I'm 5'10" and most bike shorts go down to the top of knee/bottom of my thigh muscles. I'd say that's pretty standard and I wouldn't consider it "short". If you're really concerned about covering up, consider going with knickers, which are mid-calf length. They may be a little warm in summer, but they are much more flattering than shorts. I do find that my Giordana Lazer shorts are a bit longer than any other shorts I have, but there's so much variance between brands and among different product lines that it's almost impossible to give you a clear answer.

Of course, your other option is MTB shorts...

I just bought some Aero Tech DEsigns Fleece tights. They make tall and big shorts, jerseys, etc. I'm 6'4" and they fit great. Size seems pretty close.

I am just a hair under 6 feet, and I ride with Performance UltraMax bib shorts. They come right to the top of my knees. I have also worn their Ultra and Ultra II bibs and both of those come just slightly above my knee. I would recommend trying bib shorts if you can find a pair that fits your torso length and waist (not always easy to do). I found that not having the constricting waistband was much more comfortable for me, and I won't ever go back to regular bike shorts.

Last time I weighed myself I was 246 and I'm 6' 4". I have the 2XL Aero tech unpadded fleece tights. I haven't tried the XL. The tights I have are so stretchy the XL may be fine.

+1 On Aerotech.
I'm no longer >200#, but my legs are still crazy long in proportion to my body, so I need tall sizing, and they are my "goto" place for bib tights.
